I'm considering the purchase of a Madison Bob cue. I'm not faimiliar with his work. I would like to hear opinions from AZers as to playability, workmanship, etc. Thanks, Chuck

Here is my input

As a player in Indiana, I see them pretty often. They are pretty good for the money, and resell is okay but not great.

One of the top players in my town bought one and is pretty happy with it. I think the workmanship is good, not great.

I personally think I would look at a Gilbert, which in my opinion is still the best cue for the dollar, in workmanship and resell, and playability.

Madison is far behind in all three compared to the Gilbert. (No, I dont have one currently but have had many.)

Good Luck,

ken

a friend of mine from w.v. plays with a sneaky from madison bob. ive hit a few balls with it and it plays pretty stiff(which i love) and my buddy has many more expensive cues he can play with but he loves the mb. im not crazy with how some mb cues LOOK but they play very well.

I bunch of us here in Denver went in on a group purchase of 6-7 cues. Mine was a purpleheart sneaky pete. He added nice rings for no extra charge. The cue played great, a bit noisy for me (I'm used to a nice quiet southwest) but I played with it for about a year and a half (the majority of the time).

I know two top players in denver still use his cues, one is a sneaky pete and one is fancier.

Mine warped a bit in the handle, right below where I gripped. Nothing major but you would notice it if it was rolled. I can't blame that on anyone but myself since I kept it in my trunk for over a year. I sold it a while back and began playing with my southwest again full time.

I wish I had it back as my southwest is "in the shop".

Alex's Madison Bob

I have several Madison Bob cues, including Alex's
Alex, you're cue hits great, as good or better than the high end MB cues I have. $150.00 and you can have it back, I don't need it 303-887-2227

The shafts are very good on Madison Bob cues The other night I couldn't miss with Alex's cue

Most of them play stiff. Personally I prefer MB with brass joint pin better than with G10 joint pin. They are good for the money.

I thiink they are great cues. I have a friend in Indiana that thinks Gilbert cues are a better value and play better, but I dont agree with him :)

I have tried several different cues while I have owned my MB, but I keep going back to this one. It plays and looks great.

If I were in the market for a new cue today there are proabably two cues I would be looking at. A Bob Griffin, or a Pete Omen. But as always, oppinions very.

I hit a few balls with Ted's sneaky, and I thought it played really well.

MB cues are on a short list of about 8-10 guys building cues today that I consider undervalued. He builds a real nice playing cue for the money if you like them stiff/firm. IMO his cues are on-par with Rick Howard's....another excellent and undervalued cuemaker.

I like his cues too. If I had the money I'd of brought the one I used to own back this summer.

BTW, I just bought back my Madison Bob last night. I had sold it to a guy for 200, he sold it again for 150 and I just bought it back for 150. I'm keeping it this time.

Oh, I didn't see your post on here. Well I ended up buying it back and I'm very happy with it. Thanks.
