Magic, Blue Diamond, Pre Flag chalk..

And to add to the " your fine if you dont eat it" arguement, I was just jacking around on my table and while my allergies are getting the best of me during the changes of seasons, I went to rub my eyes and withheld thinking of my dirty chalky hands, and then proceeded to dry my runny nose on my sleeve... funny how chalk in the eye is probably just as good as eating it eh? It doesnt really concern me for my health, because of all the G forsaken smoking rat holes im stuck playing leagues and tournaments in are going to run me short on years anyway, but it would be nice to stray myself of more hazards at my hand.

Hmm.... someone needs to take their humor reinforcement supplements. Per chance, you wouldn't happen to play the character "Data" in Star Trek: The Next Generation, would you?

Nah but he was my hero lol.

I have used several different types of chalks, mostly due to availibility, or reccomendations of friends, and think that most are pretty much the same. Even worse, is that the same brand can have different characteristics depending on handling and care.

I have a few boxes of pre-flag that have been stored indoors in my home in colorado for the last several years, and have noticed that despite the very low humidity it still seems to "dust" less than the newer cubes (flagged) that I have, and thus keeps my hands, my shafts, the table cloth and rails, and most importantly for my OCD, my ferrule cleaner. I am an obsessive over chalker though, as I seem to almost always grab the chalk immediately after a poor shot to take my frustration out on the cue i guess, and still find myself chalking up before the shot while surveying the table layout. I find that even if I do this a couple of inning in a row with the older chalk that there is signifficantly less chalk dust than with other types, even blue diamond and magic chalk....

D

I tried Masters, pre-flag Masters, Blue Diamond and Silver Cup. The one chalk I will never use is Silver Cup. Its hard as rock, and actually takes chalk off the cue tip.

Chicago RJ...Not only that, but Master or National (the two major brands made by Tweeten) have NEVER had lead in their formulas. Skip said the same thing in an earlier post. As he mentioned, the lead is likely from poorly manufactured brands, or knock-offs. Remember, according to the study, only 3 out of 23 brands had any lead whatsoever. Since Master probably serves 75+% of the market, the "lead" chalks are very likely few and far between, as well as difficult to find.

WOW... and all these players "needing" the pre-flag stuff. I didn't even know what the heck the pre-flag stuff was, but apparently neither did they... thanks for the inside scoop. The way some of these players "preferred" the pre-flag, maybe the company could of captialized and charged few more pennies for it...

Don't think that any company like Tweeten would admit to ever having a dangerous substance in their product, even if it did at one time.
