Yes, depending on how new the balls are and what model, also some of the newer black magic racks have more issues than the older ones. Seems the holes were cut out a bit off.

Yeah I've always had that issue, but part of the problem is the old worn out balls in use at my local room. When I started bringing my own set with less wear the 9/10 ball rack worked fine. The 8 ball model, at least the particular one I have, has never been good at freezing the balls regardless of which set I use.
