Major storms in the Philippines

We had plenty of guys have to take tetanus shots after Hurricane Floyd because they were in flood waters. The hotels we stayed at we were told not to drink the water, I was so freaked I didnt even shower. There was nothing but dead animals and water everywhere. In less than a week from the time we left North Carolina, most of the guys that got wet had rashes, etc. from the bacteria.

I am sure you have seen your share of after math from storms. Both Donna in 1960 and Charlie in 2004 blew from a direction that sucked the water away from the coast and we had no flooding. While 150 MPH winds do a lot of damage, it is the flooding that is a real issue. 5 years after Hurricane Charlie and my head is still on crooked.

Watching the News last night they said Aid was being sent to American Samoa. But nothing about the Philippines. I may have missed it, But I sure hope our government is stepping up to the plate.

Yea I've seen first hand how bad tornadoes and hurricanes can be. Its not a fun site to see people wondering where their house is and I'm there making overtime and griping about not having a good place to sleep. It makes you feel guilty to be there helping. Hurricane Irene hit Miami as a CatOne and actually had more outages in Florida Power and Light's history (even more than Andrew) until Charley I think. We had to work in the water there as well and left with 11,000 still out due to the flooding.

But I know the flooding is worse in AS and PI than I've ever seen I'm sure so I'm for sure praying for those that have died and will die sadly. I'm sure we'll be sending help both ways.

Charlie took the same path as Donna did 44 years before. The big different was Donna sat on top of us for 14 hours and Charlie was only about 45 minutes. When the Eye hit, I went outside to look across the Golf Course to no longer see the two story Condo that was there. But I don't remember heavy flooding with either Hurricane. After the Eye the wind shifted and that was when I got it, but not real bad at my house. My farm was another story and that is why I will be working the rest of my life. I am very close to 70 years old.

5 years later we still see Hurricane damage.
