1. If the cue ball and object ball were randomly placed anywhere on a standard diamond pro nine foot table with new cloth, how many times out of 100 do you think you could successfully pocket the ball from where it laid?
-How would this change if we did the same thing on a valley bar table?
-What if only the object ball was random, and the cue ball was placed in the dead center of the table?
-What would these percentages look like if we put a shooter like
SVB/Shaw/Orcullo up?

2. Suppose the cue ball and a group of object balls were randomly thrown on the table, and your challenge was to pocket them all in any order from where they stopped. What number of object balls would lead to your best run out percentage? In other words, too few and you might miss too many opening shots, too many and you might make execution errors.

Hope you enjoy these thought puzzles. They kept me busy for an hour wait I had the other day without (gasp) my phone. I think the first question is interesting as it pertains to the importance of cue ball control after the break. Or how likely you are to get a second shot at the 9 ball if you are in a spot where you just have to fram. The second one I find interesting because of how different my answer turned out to be from my friends. Feel free to share and happy Thanksgiving!

In terms of comparing one table to another, the Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) provides a relative expected pocketing percentage difference. Lots of data on the tables you mentioned plus many more are available on the AZB TDF thread.
