Make this Revo Go Away!

thanks for asking, CK.

For me it was the color. I was having a problem sighting onto the cue ball with all 1 color the entire way. Might have been different if it still had the yellow Victory tip but I think most people, like the prev owner of this one, found that tip to be way too soft for their liking. I think guys started referring to it as the "Yellow Marshmallow".

So yeah, sighting was the issue - I even considered putting a small piece of white tape on to simulate a ferrule more to what I'm used to but just went right back to my maple shafts instead.

I reconciled in my head that if maple was good enough for Mosconi, Crane, Efren and on and on and on, then it's really me and not a shaft that's the weak link. :embarrassed2::eek::grin:

for the record, I thought the Revo felt and sounded fine. This one even had something of a <<<ping>>> when striking whitey.

best,

Just my opinion but if your having problems sighting/aiming with the Revo then you have a setup/mechanics problem. My game improved with the 12.4 Revo, so I’m guessing my sighting went down hill, or even up hill. LOL. Everyone has their thing. Happy New Year.

Maybe that is the reason I dislike carbon shafts so much. I had the chance to try a Revo a few months ago, I think it took me all of 3 shots to determine it wasnt for me just because it seemed to feel so dead. But I also highly dislike soft tips, I like to try other peoples cues but it seems everyone and their brother uses a soft or super oft tip for some reason. To me it makes the cue feel like you are striking the cue ball with a piece of Styrofoam on the tip. I will stick with my wooden shafts and med-med/hard tips.

like in golf and many other sports, pool can be very psychological. Just look at all of those crazy putters guys are using. And in pool, look at, for instance, what Earl has used trying to up his game.

some years back when Mike Dechaine was sponsored by Predator and then OB he was using a black ferrule on his playing cue because he thought this provided better sighting.

I tried and found I prefer to use a maple shaft instead of a dark gray revo because it (the maple) seems to provide me with better sighting. It's really just a personal preference. I think. :grin-square:

Please don't make me start worrying that I have a "setup/mechanics problem."

Happy new year to you, as well.

best,
brian kc
