Maldives Open 10 Ball 2024 (25-30June) Winner $32K

Good TV production value. Hopefully they'll have a shot clock next year, the final was pretty unwatchable. 11 minutes per rack is vomit.
I've never understood the reasoning behind not having shot clocks, at least for the last three rounds. Kazakis in particular is unwatchable without one. How many times do you see Filler or Shaw fiddle and diddle around on every shot, jumping up and down multiple times, the way Kazakis was doing every match?

+1 on the shot clocks, players are slow as molasses without any incentive to speed up. In the final rack, Grabe (who I'm a big fan of, he was very nice to me at the US Open last year) took 11 minutes to finish these eight balls with BIH. But without a shot clock, why wouldn't he take every bit of time he wanted?

11 minutes is pretty bad since every shot went as he had planned. I was thinking he might play the 1 off the 7 to clear a path for the six and that worked out. If anyone wants to see the final match, here it is:

I knew these guys would go long.
3 hrs 49 minutes for 19 racks.

I fast forwarded from the 6 ball in the final rack.
That's enough for me.

Hey, no exaggerating allowed here. The match didn't start when the video did.;) So you have to deduct about 12 or 13 minutes. But apparently they lagged at some point (which I would include in the match length), and I didn't find that on the video. Maybe they took 13 minutes for that.

good on grabe-o to take it down. but it was way, way too slow for me. viewing numbers wasn't good when i checked and i think the pace of play had something to do with that

11 minutes a rack is ridiculous.

Both these guys are unwat hable.

Kazaks looks like he will cry when he misses.

They musta emptied out on the set. Also thinking Kazakis might be feeling left out and extra wanted the win. I always check the play length in case I want to grab the video. Wasn't expecting 1 set. Shocker.

Pool as a broadcast medium has to be long, most sports fill at least 2 hours to provide plenty of commercial opportunities.

A slow match might not be fun for most but it is easy on viewers that are new to the game.

Pool broadcasting needs help because introducing the game silently is like Charlie Chapman teaching dancing on film. It needs people that understand youth culture.

Imagine parents that want their kid to be a national champion. Asia has multiple overlapping regions perfect for billiard tourism and competition.

Its a low cost sport that needs minimal upkeep or real estate and it can be player indoors.
