MAN OF THE DECADE (pool)

I agree

Ivan is great person to talk to and he is certainly a veteran of the industry. He deserves however zero credit for anything related to the BCA as the BCA has completely FAILED the sport of billiards in this past decade.

If anyone should be person of the decade for their contributions to the sport and the industry then I nominate Greg Sullivan along with Mark Griffin for their combined accomplishments.

with what you said.

Do you see the point?

JB,

Yes, I do get your point. However the real question is, do you get mine?

There is a time and place for everything. The BCA has many things that it can and hopefully will improve upon. I even agree with some of what you're saying. However this is not the time or place to bring them up.

(note the birthday analogy in my last post)

Maybe consider addressing these issues in a dedicated thread about *improving* the BCA. Airing out all the BCA dirty laundry does nothing but disrespect this honor that's been bestowed upon Ivan.

I completely get your point. And I disagree with it. A birthday is a natural time to celebrate a person's existence. An industry service award should go to people who accomplished more positive than negative in that industry. On balance Ivan Lee has not accomplished this.

To gloss over the failures is like naming the CEO of Merrill Lynch financier of the decade. Or like naming BP oil company of the decade.

This is precisely the time and place to air out the BCA's dirty laundry because in my opinion rewarding a person in the face of epic failure is not the sign of bringing positivity to the table. And trust me, you haven't seen any of the BCA's really dirty laundry yet.

On the subject of sponsorship: I am not sure of this and have no way to get the numbers but I feel in my heart of hearts that CUETEC has put more real cash money into pool at more levels than Simonis has in the past ten years. So I don't know what the criteria are. No idea at all. Frankly I don't care.

All I care about is that no one involved with the BCA gets to have accolades for "service to the industry" in the face of the BCA's industry-hurting activities for this past decade, at least not without someone standing up to provide the counterpoint.
