Pan Pacific
I came to Manila yesterday, and went to the new (to me) place in the same buliding as Pan Pacific hotel, just a few minutes walk from Oneside.
Its a poker club with 3 beautiful tables, tight pockets good for one-pocket!
The guys are in action there all the time, and since its virtually in the poker club, it seems easier for the players to find backers when they find a prey.
Yesterdays biggest matchup was Ronnie Alcana vs Dennis Orcullo. The handicap was a new one - at least the first time I have seen that: They played 10ball, race to 21, Dennis giving Ronnie the 8, and Ronnie giving Dennis the 9!
It may be an ego thing, both giving a ball, hehe. But the more I got to think of it, I believe this kind of spot is somewhere between matching up even and one player giving the other the 9..
Anyway, Dennis was up 20-17, blew two good chances in the final games, and Ronnie took it 21-20.
Gomez played the recent winner of Guiness Tour in Indonesia, Jundel..
Gomez gave him the 8 in 10ball, race to 20. This ended up hill-hill, Jundel coming out on top. Gomez was bit unlucky in this match.
I actually got a one-pocket game with a local player Buddy. He is a good friend, but told me he had a chinese backer, so I didnt feel so bad when I nailed a 3-2 win:wink:
Going back there tonight to sweat some action and maybe be involved in some myself.
