manual panto upgrade??

what upgrades have you guys done to your manual pantos like the one chris sells? has anyone upgraded their dremel for something else??

i was thinking of using a ryobi router in mine instead of the dremel. any thoughts on this?

There is very little to up-grade on a pantomill as it is a pretty simple machine but a better, truer running cutting tool is one area. I doubt I would convert to a Ryobi router though as I don't feel trading one piece of junk for another would be worth the effort. There are many better choices available.

Miy machine is not one of chris's but I use a porter cable 7310...nice part about is that it can also be a spare for my other tapering setup. :)

i have one of those just sitting around with a saw blade on it for parting off rings, i didnt think this was any better than the ryobi or the dremel tho as far as accuracy.

and my machine is not one of chris' either but rather a barringer inlay machine http://cuecomponents.com/mapa.html it does the full length of the cue but it has a taig headstock on it instead of whats pictured.
 
WOLFGANG SPINDLE MIGHT BE A NEAT UPGRADE??

machine actually got damaged in shipping so..... since i cant use it im daydreaming about things to do with it lol

That's what I was going to mention. I made My panto Myself, but It is similar to a Hightower in that It's 1 to 1, and works pretty much the same. I had thought about trying a Wolfgang spindle once before but I never did try It. Would Like to hear Your feedback if you give it a go.

Thats what I have is a Proxxon and another as a backup.They are very quiet and work very nice
 
INTRESTING ill have to check that out, but for twice the money i cold try the wolfgang......
that 3 jaw chuck option looks neat aswell i think theuy make one of those for my dremel also...
 
Foredom

I personally use a foredom unit. The dremel had rediculous runout.
I definately would upgrade the sipndle, it will amaze you if you have been using a dremel motor.
