I was reading an interview about Marcus Chamat in Inside Pool, talking about how he got into the game, and when he got serious. It didn't say anything about the time he spent in Canada, but during his Match against Wu in the 2005 WPC, Jim Wych had commented that he had spent quite a bit of time in Canada. Does anyone know more about this? His Backer? Where he traveled in Canada? Or anything? A friend of mine that has recently quit playing (Rick Marshall) took $2500 from him in Edmonton, but other than that i havent heard a single story. Did everyone else lose and not wanna talk about it? hehe. Oh well, I'm a Marcus Chamat fan, and was just hoping to gether a little more information about his trip(S) to Canada.

That Marcus Chamat sure does get around! Didn't know about him spending a lot of time in Canada. He sure has been to just about every other pool-playing country in the world. I see his name pop up EVERYWHERE in the charts! :p

Rick only beat Marcus for $500. I watched every shot of their match. I know that Marcus hung out in Calgary for a while but I don't know of many other games he played.

hmmm, i heard it straight from the horses mouth, and not the story i heard. But then again, its been a few years, Rick's gambled alot, and i can see the numbers getting twisted easily. Or low and behold, maybe they matched up more than once? That would have been around the time Rick was in his prime so who knows. Anyways, thanks for your additional insights.

Was Edwin around alberta during that time? I'm sure he would have matched up too. I wonder if any of our BC players played him.

Marcus was playing aruond Calgary before Edwin got big into Alberta pool. Bernie was still the best player in Calgary at the time he was around. Marcus matched up against afew people who are of lower speed with some weight given, won and lost some. He never matched up with Bernie. Right before Marcus left was the Northern Lights tourney which pulled Archer, Varner, Marcus and virtually every top player in Canada, Bernie won it and Marcus and him went stateside for a road trip. Bernie and him split up because of Marcus's need to step up and play the best players and wreck all the action.
