Mariposa Cue Repair

If Joey's suggestion doesn't pan out, you may want to contact Chuck Starkey. He may be able to help with something like this. He goes by desi2960 on here.

Good Luck,
Craig

I, too, heard Kyle was getting back into cuemaking. Was told that early this spring. Maybe somebody here from Chicagoland will chime in with his contact info for you. You also might try looking him up in the white pages directory....think his last name is Van den Bosch.

Hello Everyone,

A good friend of mine has an older Mariposa cue with the full wood pin into wood. The cue is older and the butt needs to be refinished.

But that isn't the problem.

The problem is that the wooden pin itself is starting to deteriorate (IE: Lose pieces of threading.) I need to have the pin bored out, and a new wooden pin put in it's place.

I contacted proficient billiards, but they said they COULD NOT do a specialty repair of this nature. They suggested I contact Mariposa.

Does anyone have contact information for them, or someone who is qualified to do this type of job?

Here is a picture of the damage I described.

Dave, there's a guy right in your area that can make that pin and refinish your cue as well. I had the same problem with a Mariposa I had a few years ago and he replaced the pin and did a complete refinish on it for me. Call Jerimy at Chambers Billiard Co. I'll give you the phone number and email in a PM. He is also by far the best table mechanic in the Chgo area!

Yes Van den Bosch is his correct last name. I spoke to his brother Augie
last saturday and he said Kyle was making cues again. I'm not sure where he's doing this but I know it is in Chicago you might contact Chris's Billiards maybe someone there can lead you in the right direction. PH#773-286-4714 Good Luck Philw

Success, Thanks Everyone.

I actually contacted the original cue maker. Kyle Van den Bosch is back to making cues, and after speaking with him, a very nice man.

I am sending two Mariposa's to his shop this week.

He is located in the NW Side of Chicago, working out of a garage I believe.

I found his contact phone number through the Illinois Billiard Club.

His quotes for the work were very reasonable as well.

Refinish butt of cue.
Refinish original shaft.
Replace pin/Sync to shaft.

Total $150.

Considering there will be no shipping, since he lives an hour away; I think this is going to work out great.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
