Mark Bear Cue – Fredericksburg Virginia.
www.bearcues.com
This cue was completed in 2004 and was showcased at the US OPEN in Virginia with a sticker price of 2195 and is featured on his website. I picked it up about 6 months ago and had Mark make me some matching Joint Protectors for it out of Thuya Burl and water buffalo horn. They look nice. The specs for the cue are as follows.
• The cue rolls straight both together and apart.
• 18.75 oz.
• Balances at 19 inches
• 58 inches long
• 2 =13mm shafts – both with ivory ferrules and moori medium tips
• One shaft is standard maple and the other is Mark’s custom laminated shaft, both shafts play excellent.
• The cue is unique in that the black joint rings on the butt and shafts are made of water buffalo horn, you can see the white striations in the pictures.
• The joint is a sleeve of nice grainy ivory with a 3/8x10 joint pin.
• The cue is constructed with a maple cored amboyna burl forearm that is then fullspliced to a beautiful piece of birdseye maple with 3 veneers (black, blue, white). At the base of each point is a water buffalo horn dot inlay that in turn is inlayed with an ivory dot. The cue is then butterfly spliced with 2 - black, blue, white veneer and Thuya Burl splices.
• The cue is then finished off with a very nice ivory buttcap that is signed “M.Bear ’04 “
• The only flaws in the cue are that you can slightly feel the silver rings and it has one nick in the butt just above the buttcap. The nick was filled and buffed out before I got it. You can see it in the pictures.
SOLD
Thanks and God Bless
