I just saw an accustats video of Mark playing Grady in a one pocket tournament from a few years ago. Mark is a phenominal banker!!! The commentators were saying at the time Mark was the best bank pool player in the world. He beat Grady 4-2 and I am extremely impressed with his game. Does anyone know if he still plays often?

Mark came out of retirement last October at The Midwest Open, Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. I have seen him several times since. He is still playing real well and I expect more of him coming soon.

First time I actually met Mark was at the Glass City Open last November. He was good friends with many of the players, including Keith. Mark Jarvis cashed in the GCO last year, but when he got knocked out of the tournament, he was saddened by the fact that he had to leave before the conclusion of the event due to a shortage of funds. Mark was new to the tournament scene, having taking a hiatus from pool, and was a full-time working man with a family.

Tom Gearhart, the promoter of GCO, heard about Mark Jarvis' plight and wanted to help him extend his stay. Recognizing Jarvis as a pro player from days gone by, he asked Mark if he would be willing to contribute an hour or so of his time at the Beat the Pro charity table in the front lobby. In return, he provided a room to Mark for the last night of the event at no cost, right there at the host hotel. Mark had been previously lodging across the street, trying to save a few bucks.

Mark Jarvis was elated. He was so proud to help out at that charity table. He showed up wearing a three-piece suit and tie and spent many hours at the charity table, helping to raise monies. He was in his element and actually enjoyed himself. It was a win-win for everybody, thanks to the foresight of the GCO promoter, Tom Gearheart.

Mark also had a speaking role in "The Color of Money" as the "Guy at Janelle's."

Here's a picture of Mark Jarvis, Keith, Troy Frank, and Corey Deuel taken last November in Toledo at the Glass City Open!

Hi, Candyman! I like the name of your pool room: Rack Attack! :D

The Hatchet Man was definitely feeling no pain when he was barking in Toledo! ;)

Funny Mark Jarvis story. About 1979 or 1980 he comes to our pool room (Playland, East Detroit) every day for a week or so on a bicycle. Most thought he was just a 17 year-old neighborhood kid on summer vacation. He was in action frequently and ended up giving weight to people who were spotting him to begin with. I saw him at DCC this year and we both had a laugh when I reminded him about it. He also told me he learned a lot about banking balls from Leonard "Bugs" Rucker.

The commentator was Freddie the Beard ( who has a new bank pool book coming soon,by the way) and he said Jarvis had matched up with the best in the world and took 'em down. Considering his knowledge of banks and the fact he bet his own $$ on Jarvis to beat top talent; this is a pretty good indication of how good Mark can play.
