http://www.sportinglife.com/snooker/news/article/663/8421079/selby-turns-focus-to-world-title

What an excellent read that article was.Well lets have a look at the World Championship 2013 Odds :

http://bettingzone.oddschecker.com/snooker/world-championship/world-snooker-championship/winner

Judd has played Dud & has been running running on an empty tank these last few months but as usual the flair player is the bookie favourite. It will interest me as to what Jeff Anderson from the Sporting Life tip's for tis event as he has tipped landslide wins for Mark Selby & when Jeff tipped against Mark he won tournaments recently.

Mark Selby: Snooker World champion's pride in 'Torturer' tag

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/27316850

The Grinder's V The Flambouyant's.

Over the years I reckon there's been way more Grinder's than Flambouyant player's in the game & the way I look at it , it's a bit like this to me 33,1/3rd , 45 & 78 Rpm old style vinyl record speeds on the old style record players.

1. 33,1/3rd = The Grinder's obviously play at the slowest of speeds & slow the game down to a stand stop to upset The Flambouyant's rhythm & style.

2. 45 Rpm = The Grinder stepping up the pace & also The Flambouyant player getting knocked out of stride & having to slow down slightly & regroup.

3. 78 Rpm = This is when the Flambouyant player is flying & in full flow & leaves The Grinder way behind on the bead frame count , Speedy Gonzalesz style.

As much as I prefer to watch the Flambouyant players there seems to be more Grinders but I aint complaining !:smile::grin::cool::grin-square:

The Grinder - The Medium - The Flambouyant players.

The guideline's on how to beat Ronnie O'Sullivan was set by Peter Ebdon and the play gets so slow and bogged down that the viewer might even think that the action has somehow paused or the TV feed has froze to the point you just have to laugh at times:

Ronnie O'Sullivan V Peter Ebdon:

The way I look at it The Grinder's can play faster at a medium speed but only as they choose to and the Flambouyant player would rather play at their fast pace but sometimes have to settle for a medium pace flow.

The Medium paced players just get their heads down and get on with it , win or lose.

My preference in order to view:

1. The Flambouyant players as they are the entertainers of the game.

2. The Medium paced players as it could be a quick frame or a long haul , who knows ?

3. The Grinder and their not my cup of tea and I might watch them but sometimes that's when I switch the kettle on .:rolleyes::frown::grin:

Well, he did win a big event recently, so maybe we should revive this thread. Here is a nice "up close and personal" interview with him...

Nice video of Mark at home. I know he gets cast as the pantomime villain because if the way he plays, and sometimes he plays on for snookers when it’s an impossible situation just to get his opponent out of their rhythm. But he is does come over as a nice bloke, and he is probably the best at really hard granite match play there is playing.

Its compelling when he comes up against someone like Ronnie or Judd because of the clash of styles. The game needs players like him just to mix things up a bit, because a bit of hard safety is as good to watch as a big break.
