Who will be against Mike Sigel, Efren or Marlon?

Marlon just cleaned Varner's clokc with 8-1 and Efren ain't just whistling dixie with an 8-3 over Immonen.

Well, Efren likely knows more about the game, although Manalo's snooker background HAS to help his 8 ball patterns. But, as much as Efren knows, I imagine Manalo is actually playing the best pool at the moment... So I'll risk going with the latter. It will be interesting to see!

Don't forget Django!

I feel that Efren is probably the greatest all around player in history and still has a good chance of winning this tournament! Francisco is another strong threat to win, but it seems that Marlon has the momentum at the moment. His snooker background is a plus when it comes to 8-ball and he has no fear! I think Marlon is going to be the next Super Star!

Archer is through also...Busta, Mika & Varner with 1 loss each...

Wish I was there!

If what you said is true, and if Marlon already beat Mika 8-7, then it seems like Efren is playing a bit better than Manalo today, considering he trounced Mika and Archer (who earlier beat Django). Efren also has the edge in GLI, since he has a total of 7 losses while Marlon has a total of 8. For Mika, he probably has no chance of making the finals now. So Efren and Marlon are the only two undefeated players left in this round.

the scoresheets are upadated now... base on what the scoresheet say, Efren made the 8 on the break... i think, he's the first palyer in this tourney to make the 8 on the break, am i right?

No...there have been several in the previous days. At least 5 or so. Look at the scoresheets of days 1-3.

well, it seems as if Django trounced Efren 8-1. So Efren and Django are currently tied 2-1, with Efren having a slightly better GLI than Busta by only 1 loss. However, Manalo still has to play both Efren and Busta. It seems that Busta owns Efren in 8ball as of late. Efren was scorched by Busta in last month's WPA Wolrd 8ball by like 10-2 or something. I'm assuming Marlon will lose to either Django or Efren, so it seems like GLI will determine the winner.

Marlon also has to play Archer as of yet. Archer is no slouch despite the tendency for this forum to tend towards the Philipino players. He did beat Bustamente who just in turn beat Efren after all. Going through Archer, Efren and Busta without a loss or even two will be difficult to say the least.

You're right. Archer is still very well in this thing. He has to get past Manalo first. If he does, he has a great chance of advancing!

Wow..this archer and manalo match seems to be taking forever. I'm guessing it's hill/hill. If so, GLI will affect them both.

manalo 8
archer 6

archer goes up 5-2...then scratch on the break... manalo battles back for the win 8-6

Manalo living up to his name

Manalo is playing like a man possessed. He really deserves to be in the finals!!!

BTW, Manalo in the Philippine dialect (tagalog) means 'to win' so he is just living up to his name.

Okay, i guess Marlon still remains undefeated, beating Archer 8-6. To remain undefeated, he still has to get past Efren and Django.

Interesting to note there is still a possibility to have a 4-way tie with records of 3-2. If Manalo loses both his matches to Efren and Django, Django loses to Mika, Efren loses to Varner, and Archer beats both Varner and Mika, then a 4-way tie can result. Mika can substitute Archer in this scenario if he wins against Archer and Varner.

However, I'm going to doubt that Manalo will lose both his matches. But him winning both of his matches is NOT a given either. My prediction is whomever Manalo loses to, that person will advance...whether it be Efren or Django. Obviously if Manalo wins both, he's guaranteed in the finals. Exciting! Anyone know who Manalo plays next?

18 victories and counting... I'd be VERY surprised if Manalo doesn't take the whole thing, Mike Sigel and all.

You would think so. Having watched alot of Sigel matches from the late 80's and knowing his 90%+ winning percentage in final matches (giving him the nickname of Mr. Finals) I would definately not count Sigel out of anything. He is one player who somehow always found a way to win. But there is no doubt that Manalo is having one unreal tournament and if it ends up being a Manalo vs Sigel finals this could really be a battle of the ages.
