Marvin Harrison at Valley Forge

So...Thursday night down in the pit I'm standing next to a guy wearing a red Hustlin hat, eating a funnel cake, and making small talk when I realize it's Marvin Harrison formerly of the Colts. I know he lives in Philly but props to him for making a "low key" appearance at VF. Maybe he'd give up the 8?

Quick note about Marvin being at Valley Forge...I play APA and for years the Philadelphia city championships to qualify to go to Vegas which were held in June each year were held at the National Guard Armory, which is on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia.

Anyway, each year I would see Marvin playing in the corner on the few strictly practice tables that were available. The cool thing is that noone really bothered him; he's a quiet guy and was usually playing by himself. I was always surprised that noone recognized him or if they did they did not bother him for autographs, etc.

Obviously he is a fan of billiards much as we are fans of the NFL...he also owns a bar in Center City/ North Philadelphia that has 2 fairly decent 8 foot bar tables and ample room to play. Surprised to hear that nobody recognized him at VF or bothered him there either but he is very soft spoken and probably didn't bring attention to himself either there.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing that little SBE tidbit! :)
