Hi All,

This event has been superbly organized by Mr. Peter Burrows. It all gets underway tomorrow morning. Room opens at 9:00 with players meeting at 10:00 and matches at 10:30.

There's a full field of 32 players. Substitute Bob Chamberlain for Danny Green.

Big Daddy's pool room has expanded just in time for this event! Here's the Google map to Big Daddy's:

Thanks for the coverage, 9balllvr! :)

And Alinco, that is some very cool pool memorabilia. Very nicely done!

Danny Green didn't make it, it looks like. I didn't see his name on the Main Page brackets.

And where, oh, where is Ryan McCreesh? I figured he'd be here since he is a straight pool lover, but there is a tourney going on in Hagerstown this weekend too, which is right in his back yard.

The matches are called "flights"? I must admit, I don't know how to read the brackets very well. I will have to get my room mate to explain it to me. :o

It sure is great to have AzBilliards covering the tournament! :)

high run was taken by Danny Barouty a bit ago 83 stands at this point - Bob Maidhof had it just prior at 82. other than that the next run would fall 65 i believe, Bob Chamberlain and it falls off into the 40s and less from there. good group of guys and gal. it sure is hard to sit here and not play myself, but it is a great game to be a spectator for. one more round tonight should be starting soon then we should have the field for Sunday.

as for my drama of the day - special thanks to Jeeves for replacing my tire - apparently i drove over on a flat and it only got worse - Houseman stopped by as well and offered a hand - it was super sweet of both to help a damsel in distress out :D

You know, these two owners, Rick and his lovely wife, really are strong pool supporters, and it looks to me that they have really worked hard to make this qualifier be the best that it can be.

When I read the article on the Main Page of AzBilliards, I could not get over how many local, regional, and national sponsors they managed to get on board to make this event happen:

A-1 Mortgage, George Matthews, Annapolis, Maryland
All Pro Painting Service, Annapolis, Maryland

any updates?

front page has the write up from this morning and the single elim brackets. the scores are there - as of now, Maidhof holds high run for the day 111 balls - he ran that at the end of the Deska match. Lipsky and Maidhof are playing now (Steve has been sitting alot, but I can't see the score) - one opportunity is all it takes with a player of his caliber; Wilkie and Barouty are playing in front of me. Wilkie has made a few errors that cost him a few balls, give me a sec and I will get some scores. they are going to 150 now.

Wilkie/Barouty currently - Barouty up 94-44

Lipsky/Maidhoff currently - Maidhof up 124-2

race to 150 balls.

Maidhof just defeated Lipsky 150-2. Wilkie was mounting a comeback and broke strong to knock open the rack, but scratched in the process, Barouty running out again as I write.

Barouty and Wilkie are still duking it out. Wilkie has made some errors, but quite a few great shots as well. Barouty is up at the table - last score I saw was 111-67, but I know Wilkie has some balls in there. Barouty just missed and Wilkie is back up. just heard 123-82 is the score.

Wilkie sure is a tough cookie - he has held on even when it looked as though he was not destined to win today against Barouty - Barouty has played strong all weekend but this match he made some unexpected errors that left the door open for Wilkie. kudos to Shaun for sticking in there even when it was ugly. final 150-91, Barouty. The final round will begin in 30 minutes between Barouty and Maidhof.

With Danny already being invited to the World tourney does Shaun or Steve get the other qualifying spot along with Maidhof?

Bob's invited also, but it's 5 beans so you might as well try to win a
qualifier for for a buck.
