Maryland 2010 14.1 Straight Pool Championships

Yes, look back a few posts in this thread...there is a list of most of the best-known players.

I also heard that Bobby Chamberlain is playing. Thorsten Hohmann is playing as well.

Bobby, I dont know what you took from that message, but it wasnt woofing....maybe a little bashing toward one person, but it wasnt you. When you make statements like "I would take care of you" it comes across the wrong way. If you were talking about pool, your probably right. I know you are an outstanding player. but I would hate to assume that you meant that in any other way, because you dont know me, and have no idea what my capabilities are. I can assure you, I dont fear any man walking this earth. Ive seen you in passing several times, and you seem to be a nice guy, and my good friend "easy" has told me that you are as well. So I dont have any ill feelings toward you. Just be mindful of statements like that. As for the tourn., I wished everyone good luck, except one, and I still do wish all of you luck. All I was trying to get across is that I would like to see a local come in and win it instead of seeing an International level pro come in and steal the "Maryland" state 14.1 championship. You are a local, so you should be able to appreciate that. With all that said, if you play in it, good luck to you, if not, Im sure Ill see you in Richmond in July, and hopefully this little forum crap wont carry over, I enjoy watching you play. Have a nice day

Ok.Fair enough prettyboy. The small community of 14.1 is a very tight group and alot of us have worked very hard to get 14.1 back on the map so all of us defend each other and Rich is not a friend to me he is a very good friend to me and an outstanding person and a great person in my eyes that has helped out alot to keep 14.1 going in our area.I get alot of shit from alot of people sometimes for speaking my mind, however I also say it as i see it and dont have any enemies that I know of but maybe a few that dislike me oh well.Just in the future try not to be so forward on your comments.Man you really went off about Rich and to wish him to bash his head in that was a little much dont you think.I will not comment anymore on this except to say good luck to all and as of now I will not be able to participate in the tourney this weekend at big daddys and to all my loyal friends and fans that cheer me on I am sorry and I promise to play next year.

Bobby Chamberlain

LMAO!!! how did Mike Davis get two entries?? That really is a strong field. There are some names on there that arent really key players though. at least not 14.1 players, they may be really good in other games though. I like the line-up alot...looks to me like Rick's dumb ass wont even come close to the money with that many champions in there lol. I think I'll root for Shaun, Ed, Brian, Andy, or any other "Marylanders", even though theres a few world champions in the field. Good luck to all of you....except Rick, I hope he trips and knocks his teeth out on the corner of table 12 LMAO.

Are you really a pretty boy?

Hope this event is streamed!!

I dont know Rich. I think we are talking about two different people. as far as 14.1 goes, I love the game, and hope it continues to grow as well. I would play in the event, but I refuse to put a single red cent in the owners pocket or contribute to anything he has his hands in. I would love to play in some other events in the area, and will probably do so soon. So anyone who was on here talking about the strength of my game, can evaluate it for yourself, if you are around. Im not a 14.1 champ , but Im far from a bad player.

Do u practice being a idiot or does it come natural, and fear my friend is a sign of intelligence, not surprising ur lacking there

Moving on now u state how bad the conditions are and complain about the food or lack of, OK why then do u play there so much and by all means tell me where these great playing conditions are in 100mile radius from there, I have yet to see a everyday pool room that every table is in
top condition,

As for the 98% u beat up there is that in tue night turny or slapping them around with league players, last time I saw u playing I was not impressed
u certainly are not in Ricks class as a pool shooter never mind as a person

I formally met Rick at my moms funeral several yrs ago , there he was standing in the rain snow and ice while we were under the tent,
I had to know who this guy was I went over to chat and to my surprise I found out he only met my mother once in a tury we had where he finished I believe 3rd, he said he really liked her and thought he would pay his respects, That's the kinda guy Rick is and we have been friends ever since

Rick and Cindy are like many in a struggling economy just trying to make ends meet, he tries his best to keep his tables in good condition cleans them every day and replaces the felt when he can and tries to stay on top of loose rails and slates as need be , Rick is a very accomplished player so he has a very good understanding of tables and conditions conducive to good play,

He also caters to the youth more than any place I have been no alcohol or cigarettes would be in his place with or without the law
He gives back to the sport he loves and this is the first time I have ever heard anyone slander him and I get around plenty , he is one of the most like able and respected persons I know and as a friend of his which I am proud to be, take offence to such B.S as I read here

When u become half the contributor to the community and society as he and his wife are let me know

and what kinda man calls himself pretty boy anyway:eek:

Are you really a pretty boy?

Hope this event is streamed!!

Rick and Cindy, the owners of Big Daddy's, are working on getting the streaming together. Rick told me today he has made some of the arrangements and working on getting the balance of things set up. Hopefully, everything will work out.

First Class Event

This tournament is one of the better events I have ever played in and the venue is a very nice pool hall. Rick does his best and while I hate to agree with Bobby, there are much worse pool halls in MD. Peter is also a great tournament director who puts his heart and soul into this event every year. I wish the room, this tournament, the TD, and all the competitors the very best this year. And for what it's worth, I lost all of my matches last year in the tournament and didn't have one complaint with the equipment.

I dont know Rich. I think we are talking about two different people.
Let me clear this up a little.

My name is Rich and my screen name on most forums is "Rich R". My wife and I are fans of pool and I got involved in this crap because I can't stand when someone slanders a good room owner based on a personal disagreement. Good room owners need support, not somebody trying to kill their business for no good reason.

Rick, along with his wife Cindy, are the owners of Big Daddy's. Rick's screen name here on AZ is "Levi". Rick is the one being slandered by prettyboy. Prettyboy brought on his own problems and he seems to feel alright with his attempts to kill someone's livelihood because of his own bad behavior.

I hope this helps until the official programs get printed.

Who the hell are you? Do you really think I care if you were impressed?? Since you have seen me before, you know who I am. So, next time you see me, walk up and tell me that you are "one stroke" and that you want me to stop talking sh*t about his retarded redneck ass, and we'll see how far it gets you. Im glad he's good to you, thats great. It doesn't change how I feel about him, and never will. You can keep living in fear and fooling yourself into thinking its intelligence all you want, I'll keep living free and fearless. Just dont be too fearful when you see me, to come up and say what you have to say. I'd love to hear it come directly from your mouth....whoever you are

Thanks for clearing that up Rich. yea, I definitely wasn't referring to you. As far as Rick goes, my statements, and feelings on the matter remain the same, sorry.

To whoever gave me bad rep on here.....thats hilarious!!! Since when does rep affect anything in life?? but to do that for your little buddy is pretty sweet! ....awww

Hey talk all u want this is america
I think the way u have handled this wrong ,ur problam with Rick should be handle with him face to face not slander from behind a computer
U are the one who is coming out looking like the bad guy , trust me I know from expierence, now a little older I have learned to take the high road , its ok to say ur opinion but do it with tack and u come out looking a lot better
u may not care now but one day u might,
u cant have to many friends
ask Carl and Kenny they thin out quick as u get older

14.1, the Championship Game. Tournaments few and far between, and room owners going out on a limb to host them. Bill Haley's Comet Billiards no more, succumbing immediately after an incredible 2009 World 14.1.

And now a thread dedicated to an upcoming event with stellar players is mostly filled with guys throwing e-punches over the cost of tuna fish sandwiches!

It's a wonder that pool his survived at any level this long.

How about we use this thread to discuss the tournament, not tuna fish or testosterone?

Well said! A couple updates...looks like Mika has joined the fray! Bobby Chamberlain is not in from what I've heard.

I left you negative rep. Not only do I not know the room owner ("my little buddy") but my comments still stand, how old are you? You might be in adult body but you have the maturity of a 12 yr old.

FWIW, I'm well aware that rep, negative or positive, means nothing. I utilize it as a way to stress a point that I've already made in a thread. I'll speak my mind and when I think someone makes a really good post, I'll say so in the thread but I'll also follow up with a nice comment through the rep message. Just like when I disagree (as I already did in this thread), I followed up with a comment using negative rep to get my point across that you're acting like a child.

Back on topic to this great event, does anyone have an updated players list? It looks like there are going to be a lot of stellar players for this tournament.
