First I know I spelled it wrong but I have had a few too many beers tonight to really care if I can spell.

This is a Two part Question.

First: Assuming a soft tip is the best for Mass-A shots, What is the softest tip available??????

Second: Are we wrong about a soft tip?? What is the best tip for mass-a shot??

OK this question comes from a BS session after a small time local tournament tonight. My Buddy and league team mate is interested in buying a stick just to shoot Mass-A shots. Since I have a Homemade Cue Lathe and work on my friends cues, He is looking at me for the answers I can not provide the answer with out your help. BTW I told him I would post this question since I can't honestly answer it.

The tip depends on what kind of masse' you are doing. Are you talking about a tip for an occasional masse' to get out of hook?

If you are going to be hitting the ball hard enough to put burn marks on the cloth, I recommend a shortened Sniper or an Everest. For not so extreme masse' shots I recommend Karomi or Sniper. Layered tips seem to hold up better.

Kamui super soft is what I put on the masse cue I gave to Mike Massey when I worked at Chilton Custom Cues. We made two cues and play tested a few tips and that one by far played the best. I don't know if he still uses the cue but he did use it to win some big tournament in Europe.

Yep I am no trick artist. I can curve a ball enough in some cases with my playing cue. But I seem to run into the a lot of safety where two balls are locked on the rail and the other player leaving me behind the 8 ball or object ball. Too close to jump and a hard kick shot. I looking to make that U shot for the hit and maybe lucky enough to get safe. Some times a good shot will get rewarded.
