Master Cue Tips

Roberto Gomez was helping me with commentary at the World Classic Tournament recently and he mentioned that he uses a "Master" cue tip. I asked if it was an Elk Master Cue Tip and he said no.

I'm not sure if he heard me clearly or not but it is possible I didn't make myself clear and I was just wondering if any of you know of a cue tip named Master that is sold primarily in the Philippines for one dollar.

Roberto explained that the tip is a soft tip by design and can be hardened to whatever hardness each person wants.

Thanks,
JoeyA

Not positive about this but they likely are Elk Masters. A company in India called Sharma sells tips and cues both called "Master" throughout asia. Their website states that they are Elk Masters.

Thanks for posting this up sir! I was listining to that and I'm glad you followed up, i was interested as well. I'm not a layed tip guy so this is interesting.

And again JoeyA thank you so much for your tireless work this past weekend, you were just amazing. And talk about endurance, my $$$ is on you.

my very best

eric :)

you're Not Hearing Things

Joey, Roberto Told me the same thing. I met him at Capone's billiards here in Florida on the Seminole Tour. He was nice enough to let me hit with his schon, and explained his tip. It was like nothing i'd hit with before.

He said it was a Master tip. Very soft, and he explained to me exactly how they compress the tips. When he goes back to the Phillipines he's supposed to get me some boxes of the tips already compressed. I think they hit great, at least the way he had it em set up.
He was very adamant that they weren't Elk masters..

I hope i can get ahold of some of those tips.

Sure, now you have really let the cat out of the bag. Those Master tips will surely double in price now.

Keep me posted and let me know if you get any. I would like to try out their "Master" compressed tip but would really love to know if it is actually made by someone other than ElkMaster.

If you would like to PM me concerning how they compress the tips, that would be great.

Roberto did say that the tips were never soaked in any milk.

I had a great time with Roberto. He will only get better with time. I had hoped his exuberance for life and people would come through loud and clear during the commentary and my instincts were right.

Thanks for the kind words, Eric. It was almost as much fun as competing.
The professional players did a fantastic job in the booth and I'm glad they enjoyed their experience. It will only get better for them, me and the audience, I promise.

The only problem was that I was short-handed and had to work exhausting shifts. Neil Fujiwara stepped in for me and I will have to make it up to him in the future. I know Nick enjoyed having Neil in the booth and that Neil enjoyed his experience as well. Who couldn't enjoy being in the commentary booth with Nick Varner?

Who started that wife's tale? LOL Well any way they work great without all the frills. Just soak em in water for a few and compress them for a day. I have a specific height to compress them to my liking. They last a long time and hold chalk very well with little maintenance.

OK, carry on.

They don't soak em in the Philippines. The vast majority of the players play with the master tip. Roberto said only Alex and Orcullo play with morri's...

JoeyA, I thought having Roberto in the booth was a fantastic idea, I really like the idea of alot of different commentators, a lead like your self and different "Guests", this tip thing is a perfect example of why. Its more than just the "I think he is going to shoot hte 6 into the same pocket as he just shot the 5 into". That gets old, unless your new to pool and are learning patterns. In one pocket shot discussion is fun but in tic tac toe rotation games having guest commentators is great.

I noticed you had no body there to be the "lead" commentator and you worked perhaps the longest shift in the history of pool, and yoyr voice held up. You should consider doing a demo tape and submitting it to voice over companys, you would book jobs for sure and make a good amount of side $$$, we have hired alot of professional voice over the years and they make good $$$ for 15 minutes work, if you like I can give you a list of companies you can submit a tape to. You can do the work from your home. Your very gifted-your voice is just amazing, your nack for commentary is a bonus. again my since thank you and much admiration.

best

I will try to ask him.
He, a mutual friend and his backer are supposed to visit me this Saturday.
Pressed Blue Diamond and Elk Master are very popular there.

That would be great JoeyInCali. Tell Roberto his other Pal JoeyA from the commentary booth said hello.

Thanks,

JoeyA

That's the tip. Gomez gave me one. It's not elkmaster. It's really blue and the blue gets in your fingers when you hold it.
It is softer than Elk Master. He found the milk dud too hard when he tried it here tonite.
He had a few in a bag.
It'd be too soft for most here I think.

JoeyInCali,
I have noticed Blue Diamonds appear at least to me softer than ElkMasters and they are of course, very blue in color. No chance of them being the Philippine Master??

The reason why I persist in this is there appears to be no company... UH-OH!
