Camelia, Dalbergia Cearenses aka Bois Violet, Violetta or Brazilian Kingwood a true member of the rosewood family from Brazil. The heartwood is purple and rose with white sapwood. This is one of the finest members of the dalbergia family that also includes Brazilian Rosewood and Tulipwood. These are members of the rosewood family that don’t loose their colors as they oxidize. This rosewood is extremely rare and seldom is for sale. The tree is rather small and pieces this size are unusual.
These pieces are VERY straight, highly figured and of the highest quality available. They have been well seasoned for over 50 years.
Smells like Brazilian Rosewood when cut.
