Matching a shaft

I acquired a cue that came with two shafts. One of them is from the original maker, the other is from a different maker (it is almost a perfect fit, just slightly off at the collars), I like this shaft better.

Does it make sense to have the original makers shaft re-tapered to match the shaft I like or Is it easier the replace the collar of the shaft I like (the matching collar is bigger than the existing one).

The slight mismatch at the joint will bug me so I'm looking for options.

Thanks

Take it back to the maker. He should be able to get the other shaft to fit the butt properly.

Change the collars, it won't change the way the shaft plays. Changing a taper is no guarantee that it will play like the other shaft. They're different pieces of wood.
