A customer sent in a sample of amboyna burl to coordinate leather cue wraps with. Here is a photo of the various shades and tones of our precision split leather cue wraps that work well with this color of amboyna burl. This experience reminded me to offer the service to the cuemaking community. It helps to put some kind of sealer or finish on the sample you send. Having the correct shade of color for a wrap can greatly enhance the beauty of a cue and increase cue owner satisfaction. Our selection of wrap colors and textures is unrivaled. Thanks, Martin

Has some of the best wraps period. I have been using latelly only his wraps and I even had sent some of his wraps to Portugal and everybody is thrilled about the quality. The bison and elephant wraps are the nuts!!!

Thanks Ralf, FYI, the last time I shipped wraps to a German cuemaker, the elephant and lizard wraps were seized! You'd have to let me know if you want to take the risk.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to send the wrap? Shipping is much less expensive and no chance of damaging the wood during shipping. Also the cuemaker could just return the wrap if it doesn't meet his expectations. Also this would allow the cuemaker to match up the wrap to the wood which I feel is better as their name is on the cue. Just food for thought.
 
It's just an extra service that I'm happy to provide the cuemakers who purchase my wraps. Nothing more. Nothing less. The guys that have asked me to do this have been very pleased with the results. They usually purchase a dozen or two wraps and then choose accordingly. A wood sample with some sealer or finish is a great help. Looking at a jpeg of a cue rarely works well. Everyone who buys my wraps knows they are never stuck with anything they don't like. They can always be returned and exchanged no problem if done so in a reasonably timely way.

The wraps do look nice, why not buy several? I feel it is better to have many i stock and match them yourself or let the customer match them up.
 
I couldn't agree more. The wise cuemakers have a "river of leather"which gives them and their customers a vast selection to choose from. This is especially important with browns, tans, cognac, etc. When your match is "on" it greatly enhances the beauty of the cue. If it is "off" it detracts. I'm going to offer a complete set of my standard wraps at a special price in the near future, with an option to double or triple up on black.

If you have a "River of Leather" (nice Dieckman reference!), what's the best way to store it to make sure none of the less chosen pieces go bad, rot, etc?
 
The plastic Sterilite 15 quart containers from Target work wonderfully as they are the correct length and width for storing leather wraps. They come with a latching top. To further safeguard exotics, I put them inside a sealable plastic bag as well. As long as your storage area is without humidity or temperature extremes, your leather should last for decades and be perfectly usable.

vary well said, my thoughts exactly. Martin is the only one that I know with elephant ear cut to size , this is a life saver in my book. Thanks D Hill
 
Why not just buy one of each of Martin leathers and use it as sample pieces to match your cue? :thumbup: IMOP best way to go...:)
