Any of you guys have a recommendation on who I should go through to get a predator shaft matched to my southwest including the ringwork?

predator shaft

I would definitely recommend going through southwest direct unless you need it asap they will tell you if your predator is a good one or bad one and they will match perfectly

KJ cues, he's here on az. I just had him make me a predator for my predate ebony. I had him just make a black joint collar, but he could and would have made the joint with whatever veneers I wanted. I wanted black that way if I got another SW I could use it with that cue too.
KJ does all the cuework for Seyberts, but you can deal with him direct.
His work is very good. I've had him make predators for other cues for me before.

He is a great person to work with and he matched a 314-2 shaft to a South West cue I used to own and it came out great. I'd highly recommend him.

If you wanted to shoot with a flimsy plywood piece of shit.. why did you buy a southwest?? SMH

Because he's curious and wants to find out how a Predator plywood shaft plays on his SW? Because the SW butt is pretty. I hope to be matching my Judd JT-1 with a laminated shaft from Mike Lambros. Blasphemy I guess?

Best regards

Me I'm on my way over to a car forum to tell them I'm yanking the motor out of my Lamborghini and replacing it with a 4 banger out of a Toyota Camry because everyone knows Toyota has a bigger ad budget :confused::confused:

Do whatever you want, it's your cue. I'm of the opinion, that's all that counts. I personally would never do it, but that's just me.

That being said any REPUTABLE builder should be able to do it. SW rings are not that hard to duplicate, and even Southwest would probably do it for you.

All the best, and good luck!

I'm with you. My Lamborghini gets lousy gas mileage too.

Aside from the hate towards Predator, it's a very good point. You are changing more than half of what a SW hit feels like. I guess it's OK to play with since you already have it, but you won't like the hit.

A friend of mine had a Mike Webb cue that I did not like the hit of at all. He changed shafts and it turned into a very nice cue. His old shaft was a Predator, new shaft was a Mike Webb LD one.

If you want to maintain a good feel while getting low deflection, go with a custom maker LD shaft, will cost the same as a Predator. I am pretty sure Mike Webb's are $220 or so and are solid wood.

Heck the $100 Players HXT shaft me and my son use has a much better feel than any Predator I tried.

If you want to pay probably the most and just be able to say SW did it then send it to them. Since its not a SW shaft and other than the ring they would have nothing in it, it really inst going to effect the value of the cue if they do it or not. Any good cuemaker esp one that uses that particular pin would do it. Rick Howard could easily do it and you will save a lot of time and money.

Is there proof that a SW plays better than something else?

If it's the same SW you listed for sale awhile back, be sure to mention when making inquiries the collar is natural/brown phenolic - not black. To be a perfect match, your SW matched joint protectors is the key if you know what I mean.

Good luck.

I know it won't hit as well. I don't care.

I play so much better with the predator shaft its ridiculous. I have already tried a predator shaft on it and have accepted the loss in hit.

I'd play with a cue with no hit at all if it made me play better.

everything plays better than a predator shaft. except for their LD qualities (witch other brands can perfectly match) its a rubbish piece of wood. no feel, no hit, just a lot of marketing.

but go ahead, cripple your SW..... poor cue, i hope the maker doesnt jump off a bridge
