This is rebranded version of last year’s Championship League Pool which had a horrible format and much weaker field. Top 12 players from Matchroom ranking +4 wildcard players.
It is great that they revamp format this year which will now have all 16 players play each order in league table and top 10 players qualify for next round.

The Field
Superb field. Big names.

Albin Ouschan (AUSTRIA)
David Alcaide (SPAIN)
Shane Van Boening (USA)
Max Lechner (AUSTRIA)
Aloysius Yapp (SINGAPORE)
Naoyuki Oi (JAPAN)
Joshua Filler (GERMANY)
Eklent Kaçi (ALBANIA)
Alexander Kazakis (GREECE)
Omar Al-Shaheen (KUWAIT)
Jayson Shaw (SCOTLAND)
Oliver Szolnoki (HUNGARY)
Skyler Woodward (USA)
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (SPAIN)
Mieszko Fortunski (POLAND)

Unbelievable! Shocking omission !
Fedor Gorst, the hottest flavorite player in world now is not playing.
4 wild cards were Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Mieszko Fortunski, Skyler Woodward, and Kelly Fisher. Why was wildcard given to Fortunski instead of Gorst? :ROFLMAO: Unlikely that Gorst declined if he was invited. Kaci, Kazakis, Yapp, Fortunski who are playing now in Wisconsin 10 Ball also playing in this PLP event next week.

Despite Gorsts display at dcc he did not win the 9 ball. This hurt his rating using their system .

Day 1
PLP is LIVE

Free on Youtube Table 2
Live now - Naoyuki Oi v Filler (nineball, Race to 5 , Alternative Break)

Table 1 is not free (on DAZN, matchroom.live and other broadcasters depending on region)

Strong stellar field of big names of the pool universe- 6 players in Fargorate Top 10 and 12 in Fargorate Top 30.
Lowest Fargorate 762 so no dead money :ROFLMAO:
Format is big improvement over last year. Even though they are short races to 5, each player will play from 15 to 31 matches
Stage 1 (Day 1 to Day 5) will see all 16 players play each other in round robin league format. Each player play 15 matches over 5 days.
Total matches 16x15/2= 120 matches over 5 days and 24 matches per day and all matches will be broadcast /stream on 2 tables so 12 matches per table in morning and evening sessions.
After 5 days, top 10 players in the league table will advance to Stage 2 while bottom 6 will be eliminated

All 16 players guaranteed minimum $2500. Top 10 minimum $4500, Top 6 minimum $6250 , Top 4 minimum $8000

Day 1 order of play.jpg

Max Lechner played 3 matches already and he lost all and some players did not play any match as yet. This seems strange.

Looks like they scheduled Kazakis, Kaci and Yapp to play in evening session as they all played on Saturday last day of Wisconsin Open.
Stage 1 Table standings after 8 matches. Still lots of matches 112 matches in stage 1 to be played

Remaining matches for this morning session
Now on Table 1
Shaw v Kelly Fisher
followed by SVB v Sky

Table 2 Albin v The Butcher
followed by Oi vs FSR

Shane wins it with golden break over Sky 5-2.
Sky looked stunned, said something to Mr Robot ref

Why do they use the word 'league'?? It looks like a modified round-robin deal to me. BTW, WHY is Kelly Fisher in this field? No offense to her as i like the woman but she can't compete in this field. Looks like some token 'woke' shit to me. My $.02, nothing more.

it's not wokeness, atleast not according to my understanding. it's rather part of MR:s efforts to appeal to a wider audience, battle of the sexes and all that. it does generate talk, and viewers, maybe not for this (rather obscure) event but for other events.

I'm sure the event is great for the players and TV, but watching these races to 5 I just can't get through more than a few matches before wanting to go back to my 20 yr old Accu-Stats videos or US Open and Sands Regency with races to 11, 13 and some interesting swings in the results. Possibly the mechanics and shooting of all the players being 95% identical is also getting to me. My brain is getting bored watching basically the same style and shooting no matter who is at the table. Outside of a few guys like SVB and Shaw, a few other American players and Philippines, everyone looks like they just stepped out of the same pool school graduation like stamped Leggo pieces.

Or a British company trying to draw a British audience by putting a known British woman in their lineup.
