I need some dark green material for the joint collar on a 90's era EH-2 Mcdermott. Is it available or does anyone have a piece they could spare? I have permission from the customer to use black if nessesary, but would like to keep the cue original if possible. Thanks,
Dave

I gotta be honest with ya Dave, there's a lot of different shades of green.
Can you post a pic of the cue so we can dial it in a little?
Not to get ahead of myself here but I do happen to have some green implex/PVC that I got from Atlas, maybe 15-20 yrs ago that I've been using on McDs. It's not DN exact but it's very, very close.
Now I've gotta find the damn link. Hang on, I'm be right back.
OK, here you go:

That's my green mtrl. on the Predator shaft.
If that's what you're looking for, let me know.
I've got it in joint & butt size.

Thanks for the response KJ, and the link. You're braver than I.... That was an awesome rework. This is the butt cap which shows the green, and also the real defining mark of the EH-2, the nineball decal. Hope this helps.

Are you sure that's the correct picture or are you people seeing something that I can't? I see no green.

you can never rely on shade of color on a monitor.... all monitors will show a different color... and there are so many variables.... setting... viewing angle... etc

Yeah, I'm not seeing any green either.
What I AM seeing is a dark gray that McD used on some cues.
Have your wife look at it and tell you what she sees.

Yeah from the picture that looks more like the gray color they have used in the past. I have an old HD model with that color in the butt cap and joint collar.

I just finished up a shaft I made this morning for a customer's Mcdermott. Not sure what model but It's a older one. I got a little luckier the shaft collar was basic black with a thin white ring sandwiched between, or at least I thought It was white, but after installing the first set, It became obvious that It was more of an off white. The closest thing I had was MP Ivory, so I had to cut the first set back off, then use the MP for the white, but I got a pretty decent match in the end. Just hope It's close enough to the customer, because I have 2 more shafts to get started on. I've really been burning through My shaft wood the last month or so.

Good luck Dave, hope You find a match, if I had anything to match, It would be Yours, but unfortunately I don't think That I do.

After careful review and involving the whole family, it LOOKS green on the surface, BUT it is GREY on the unfinished edges. We all agreed to dark green at first, then I showed them the area where the rubber bumper goes and it changed quickly to an unanamous decision of dark grey. Thanks for the correction guys, sorry about that.
So does anyone have any of this grey????? I only need about an 1-1/4" long piece for the joint collar.
Thanks,
Dave

Funny you should ask. I can't help it, I just gotta send you something.
I guess I forgot to mention that I have it in a gray also. I'm a horrible salesman.
I'm sure I've got your address somewhere but just to be sure , please PM it to me.

dave, looks like youre as colorblind as i am
i SEE green too :o
i like the getting family involved thing
yesterday i had to get several of my neighbors involved in identifying a color for me
i always ask the women,
they arent as prone to colorblindness like us guys are

It may look a little green due to exposure but it is definitely grey. Those butt caps are a molded part that McD does not make anymore. I used to have a bunch of them but, over the years, I had used them up. I'll look around and see if I can find one.

Here's the update guys,
The customer, a friend, stopped by today and I machined the collar off while he was here. He saw the grey and then the color of the existing buttcap, and decided that he likes the greenish color of the buttcap, but not the grey of the collar, so He had me put on a black collar. It matches the other black rings of the joint. So all said and done, I don't need the material now for this cue, but I will take you up on the grey stuff KJ, I'll shoot a pm. I'm sure I'll need some sometime in the future. Thanks everyone.
Dave
