Well I ran across a table for sale on FB. It is a Valley 7' Bar box with K55 extended rails Blue 860 cloth converted to drop pockets for home use but has everyting to go back to coin OP if needed. Appears to be in good condition. His asking price is $1000 But it's a 2.5 hour drive one way. Oh and has two sets of Amrith pro balls. One small nick in the cloth.

I know the balls are expensice but is the table worth it overall?
By time I drive to get it and pay someone to set it up I will be looking around $1400 in it.

Those are Ridgeback rails on the table, but the table is a 91 or 92 model so that makes it over 20 years old, they sold for $1,895 back then, I bought a lot of them and sold them to the bars in Washington State.
 
I was just going by the ad. He said they were changed out to the K55 rails.

How can u tell the difference? I was thinking more like $800 cause the 860 and the two sets of balls

Because I know what Kerry's ridgeback rails look like, I helped design them with Kerry. Those are the ProCut rails, which is why they extend into the pocket opeings to make the pockets smaller, and they're wider across the top to help make the pocket shelf a little deeper.
 
Yes he did also flossy they were pro cut

Is it possible to have pro cut pockets with the K55 rails?
He apprently had someone do the work on the table.


Which rails play better these or the K55 rails?

I've seen bar boxes sell here local for $5-600 and they look like crap. With the work done to this one it may be worth the extra $500 plus gas and assembly
 
I like it!

I got my old 9' Rebco a few moths ago and it has been good for me. I won't ever be on TV or winning a big tournament, but I hit the fun button every time I play on it. Having your own table is a hoot and you will enjoy it. A good 7' bar box is probably a good choice given so many leagues and amateur tournaments are played on them now days. Have fun !

I had a 8' Brunswick but sold it when I got Divorced because I did not think I was going to have room for it.

I rented a house for a year and had room :-(

But the house I live in now I can squeeze a 8' and make due but really need a 7'

The room is 14' x 16'8" So a 7 foot would work best.
 
You don't need to pay anybody for assembly.

Unscrew metal molding on sides to expose screws that hold rails from the side. Then you can lift out slate with 2 guys easily. Unscrew the legs of the box This leaves the box which is a heavy pig but 2 or 3 strong guys can lift it. There are 2 hand hold cut in bottom.

Just reassemble and level with the feet.

Offer 800 over the phone. The rails and cloth are worth 400 so he's close on value.

I believe those may be Fred's make of rails. For pre 2001 models.

He sells them k55 $250 naked or $350 covered in simonis.




Valley bar table
Pros:
1: bar table is easy to move aside and replace/re-level.
2: still thinking of a #2

Cons:
1:The undersized slate does not support the rails.
2:speaker cabinet design.


Home table
Pros:
1: A home table can be made to play much better than a bar table because of the rails and slate bolting together on most home tables.
2: home table frames and be reinforced or modified to sturdy the table.

Cons:
1: most home tables are not worth the troubles to make a players table out of it.
2: finding someone to set either table up correctly or finding a guy that's able to make repairs or modification per customer request.

I'm confused in the listing says K55 rails but farther down where someone commented on what they had he said his were penguin rails. So I dunno.


And Rob. Alex Webb lives in my area he is pretty darn good when it comes to tables.

Yes sir, Fred at penguin amusment built those rails. I figured those was Fred's make of rails.
