Love the middle ones Buddy:wink:
Mean the hole cue:grin:
You make nice cues that let the wood do the talking. Very nice work.
Maybe something new . Wavy rings.
Which option would you choose?QUOTE]
Nice cues.
I like the middle one.
By the way, FYI, Paul Fanelli made a butterfly cue for me 10+ years ago that has very fancy wavy ring veneers. My cue also has matching wavy veneer joint protectors..

Hi DBK. I love them. Great job! I made the pictured ring last year on my CNC machine. Mine is exactly a sine wave. I made a poorer version on only my lathe with an indexer years ago. (Note the ring in the pic is not glued.)
I have had plans to do both a wavy ring where both faces are in phase like yours, and a ring where the opposite face is not in phase creating a bow tie ring. These are labor intensive how I made mine. I have yet to use one in a cue.

Thank you Kelly. Nice to hear.
At first I wanted to make 12 half-waves. This is useful for any design, 3 points, 4 or 6. But it proved too difficult. Therefore, it is only 8 half-waves now for a design of 2, 4 and 8 points. Sine wave too. It is necessary to make the program for 6 half-waves else for 3 and 6 points for the full set.
You have accurate job. This is ebony and bone, or some kind of plastic? 4 half-wave. But it feels of good CNC machine. I can only dream of a such CNC monster, like for example Bob Dzuricky has, I think you have not worse.
Very interesting program for the calculation of a shaft you have.
My CNC machine is not big, homemade, hobby class. And it is ten years old already . Homemade 4-th coordinate. But it works well for me. Enough accurately, but a little slow. A lot of ideas, but not all of I can do on my own CNC hardware, unfortunately.

Probably funny to see such "baby" after your monsters CNC.
Good luck.
Your rings are plenty good. Don't be ashamed of your machine. You built yours. I bought mine. (I'm not ashamed I bought mine, just saying.)
From your set up, you are machining them like I machined my first tries on my lathe. The cut movements may not be identical, but the setup is basically the same so the cuts are basically the same.
The rings in my pic are white and black juma. Yes, the fit is pretty nice. Making them out of juma shows all discrepancies between the fit. Wood rings might actually be more friendly in that regard. You did a good job of seating yours to minimize gaps all the way around, from what I can tell. I bet you know what I'm talking about.
These are a labor of love, brother. I'm sure someone somewhere out there has done this type of thing before, but seeing yours and seeing your setup...you and I are comrades now.
Paul Fanelli's wavy rings circa 2009.. Great rings.. real nice to see...
