Maybe We Really Are Improving

I've noticed that every time I get frustrated because I feel I've come to a stand still in improving for a few months I want to pack pool in. But what I've found out when I switch to a few different games instead of the 9-ball ghost I find that indeed I have improved since the last time I tried to beat the 10-ball ghost and played 14.1.

A few months ago I could beat the 10-ball ghost maybe 30% of the time with BIH. Now it's no contest, now it's very seldom that I don't beat him. As far as 14.1 goes I can see a big difference there too. I use to run less the 30 90% of the time. Now I run a lot of 30-50's. I might never run 96 balls again (I think the stars were aligned perfectly that day) but getting up and running 30's to 50's often feels a lot better to me than reaching for that magic 100.

I have come to the conclusion that when we get to a certain skill level that it's hard to notice improvement in just one area. It seems that I improve a tiny bit in all areas, but put them all together and it's quite a bit. Johnnyt
