Question: how can a ball that hits almost 2 full diamonds from pocket still go in? I've seen similar results on new cloth but have never seen whats happening on this Rasson. Is it rail firmness(or lack of) that causes this? Even the players are surprised. Gray made a shot that had no chance of going in and he just looked over at team with a smiling "wtf" look on his face.

I saw that and had the same WTF expression on my face!

You know, I don't get why the MC equipment and rules always favors the Euros, anybody know?

Justin Bergman posted in another thread yesterday that the rails are soft, so with brand new cloth, and when shooting down the rail, the tables play very forgiving. Other posters are estimating the pockets may be a little bigger than 4.5in and the shelves aren't as deep as a diamond.

The table looked like it slightly tightened up yesterday.

Diamond tables are the best tournament set-ups ever.
...they are delivered already partially broken in.

You bring any new table...new rubber, new cloth...the rails are going to play long and slow.
...I've been watching players for years acting surprised at these conditions....
...get over it...it's been happening since before you were born.

It's all about the shelf of the pockets. Next time they show the overhead camera shot, you can see the center of the shelf is almost even with the points of the rails. On a Diamond Pro-Am table, that shelf is an inch inside the points. Sad to see world class players playing on this nonsense.

This.. New cloth, dry conditions and lighting and no shelf whatsoever...

Diamond has been guilty of buckets too, so I don't see what the fuzz is all about.

its cause the euros are such bad shooters, they need those buckets.......and not only that, the table have sensors and tighten up when team USA is on the table! those sensors are great, they also controll the rolls for team europe!
the only thing i dont understand is how europe won in vegas then.......

How do the playing conditions favor the Euros?
All of them are professionals, playing under the same conditions.

When are Americans ever going to just take defeat graciously instead
of constantly complaining?

I'm a Team U.S.A. fan and I want them to win, but damn, folks.
Quit whining and offering all these damn excuses!

The players on Team Europe are quite simply (overall) better players--period.
We have to dig deep in order to win.

I think nobody is outclassed here....but nobody can play bad and win...either side.

I think at this level they should be playing (max) 4.25" pockets and races to at least 7. I get that it's on TV in some places, but when 1 miss is all it takes to lose the match, it needs to be made into a little bit more of an endurance test.

Or, if races to five are all we can hope for, then at least make it a more difficult game like call all pocket 10-ball.

I wonder if all players on both sides no what kind of table is being used. I would agree with most at this level and short races should be on the toughest equipment. I saw a lot of shots that went in that usually don't on any table. Appleton spun a 5 ball it hit nipple rattled 5 or more times and it still dropped. If it didn't drop Shane would be up 2 racks and feel a lot more positive.

Ask Mark Gray. His 7 ball on day 1 hit ABOVE the second diamond and still fell. That ball shouldnt go in on any table on the damn planet.

Lots of bad hit balls on Day 3 have dropped too.

I'm rooting for America like most other Americans (although it's pretty much over at this point). However, I don't understand how the table or the rules favor any team over the other. If the pockets are extra forgiving, they are extra forgiving for both teams (yet we've missed a number of makeable shots). The rules actually favor the team that wins the lag. Whenever I see statements like this I feel that someone is making excuses for poor performance. I'm sure if the roles were reversed, Europeans would be complaining about the table and Americans would be like, "Suck it up!"
