The book is a work in progress. Keith is full of stories and tales from yesteryear, and his journey in life is, shall I say, quite unique. He does want his book to be the ultimate read, one which will be entertaining as well as historical. One thing for sure, though, it will be the world according to Keith.
About Danny Basavich, I do have a soft spot in my heart for the Kid. He reminds me of the late "Geese," for one. Danny is the real deal, a thoroughbred pool player who's traveled both sides of the fence, so to speak. I'm looking forward to reading his story, and when the movie comes out, I'll be the first one standing in line to see it on the big screen!
Both Keith and Danny have a strong passion for the game and, because of it, have devoted their lives to a sometimes very thankless sport. In these economic times, with payouts remaining stagnant for the past 30 years, there is some hope on the horizon for players like "Earthquake" and "Kid Delicious." It's a tough racket, fraught with occupational hazards, and only the strong survive.
I think the winds are shifting in pool, and for the better. There are a lot of happenings coming up on the tournament trail which do give me hope.
