i was just looking for info about these cues or anybody who makes cues like him. i heard him and another cue maker are almost the same. thanks...
 
Tim Scruggs and him were or are still partners and their cues are made almost identical.

They are?
Almost all McDnls' I've seen are cored thru.
The Scruggs I've seen are not.
I haven't seen a v-pointed McD's in a long while.
 
McDaniels

Bill made parts for Tim. The butt plates with the Scruggs logo and some other stuff. I don't think they worked together. Joss was Dan Janes, Bill Stroud, and Tim Scruggs. That's what I understand anyway. Correct me if I am wrong.

It has been several years since I saw them at the trade show together. They said they were partners and built their cues the same way at that time. They did not go into a lot of details about who did what, so I really don't know much. They live hundreds of miles apart so it is obvious they didn't work together on a day to day basis.
Yes Tim was with Joss way back.
 
The story of Tim I heard...

Danny and Bill decided they were going to build cues...They got a lathe and made toothpicks...Tim was a master machinist and they knew him from playing pool. He taught Danny and Bill how to use a lathe. The rest became history. As far as McDaniels being a partner, that was a heck of a commute!

Not to take anything away from Tim, by any means.
I heard that, Dan Janes and Bill Stroud, did make good cues alone. The demand became so great that they enlisted Tim Scruggs to ease the load. I never heard of any connection to Bill McDaniels, until this thread.

I may be mistaken but I believe this is the way it goes: Dan Janes and Tim Scruggs worked together for a while. Then Tim set up his own shop where Bill McDaniel worked with him. Later, Bill moved to Jackson, TN and set up his own shop there. After Bill left Bob Frey started working with Tim. Now Bob also has his own independant shop. If you visit Tim's website you will notice that he refers to Bob when ordering sneaky petes.

Yes you are correct Tim did come later...But when Bill and Dan first started they needed help and that is where Tim came in...Then the rest is history...

The connection is that Bill McDaniel worked with Tim Scruggs after Tim Left Bill Stroud and Dan Janes.
