Anyone have a source for McDermott bumper remover tool? Apparently, McDermott has them on B/O.

Hold the bottim of the butt between your legs and use your thumbs on the edge of the bumper and push. It takes a little pressure.

Disclaimer: I'm not a cuemaker :D

I do this too. Takes a little getting used to but it works.

I've also used soft jaw channel-lock type pliers with a protective cover on the jaws.

The one time I've removed one of these bumpers, I squirted a little WD40 in around the edges of the bumper, then covered it with a cloth and used a pair of channel-lock pliers. Got it out without damaging it!

You can even use a little dish washing detergent. A drop around the base and twist it a little to get it in there and you can pop it off with your thumbs. You have to press hard though. Just when you think it won't come off it pops out. I would be a little afraid of pliers they are no necessary.

Another way of going about it, wrap the bumper with a towel and clamp down on it with a set of visegrips. From there, you can rock it back and forth while you pull on it. It will pop right out.
