McDermott i–2 vs Tiger Ultra LD

How do these shafts compare to a 314^2 or ob1? I'm looking for something other than a Predator shaft for my P2.

The quality of maple Tiger uses is of much, much higher quality IMO. Aside from that, I don't know much about the I-Series.

The tiger is made well but it seemed to deflect much more than a predator due to the fact the front end of the tiger has more mass weight at the front end of the shaft than the Predator.Goodluck

i have both of these shafts and they both have way more deflection than the pred or ob. i was pretty disappointed with both actually (in terms of LD), they are not really low deflection at all. the tiger ultra LD is just slightly less deflection than a regular shaft and the i2 is actually worse...slightly more deflection than a typical maple shaft! the tiger is otherwise a nice shaft, good construction, quality wood, good hit.

I shoot with a McDermott I-3. I prefer the I-3 over the I-2 because I like a smaller diameter tip (11.75mm vs 12.75mm). The small tip gives me a sense of geometric precision when I strike the cue ball. I borrowed an OB-2 for two weeks and didn't discern much difference between the I-3 and the OB-2. The stripped ferrule on the OB-2 was distracting to me and I didn't like it. I read enough negative threads on this forum covering the Predator (splinters, poor finish, warping, etc.). so I didn't even consider it. The Warranty and Maintenance Agreement on the McDermott I-series of shafts is outstanding. I have sent in my I-3 for cleaning, resealing, and a new Moori soft tip installed at no charge (did have to pay a Postage and Handling fee of $21.). A friend of mine shoots with the Tiger shaft and really likes it. I've tried it but didn't play with it enough to have an opinion. But, what I like may not be what you like - it's so subjective. Good luck in your quest for a good shaft.
