Hi, anyone tried McDermott's I-Shaft 2? Is it laminated or solid 1 pc wood?
How does it compare to 314-2, in term of hit feedback? I don't like the feel of 314-2, too hard to my liking.

If your looking for low deflection...the I2 is not it. I hate the silly thing and I can play with anything. Poor feel and a lot of squirt. I would suggest you try someone else's before you pluck down your $.

The only shaft I never take out of my case. Correcting it's not in my case it sits in a corner in my office. One day I'll put it in my garden to hold up a plant or something.

I have a different opinion of the I series shafts. I played with an I-3 for about a year, and also played a few racks with an I-2. Prior to this, I had been playing with a 314-1 and then a Z-1 for several years. I had to make no aiming changes with the I-3. In other words, the deflection on the I-3 was comparable to the Z-1 and the I-2 about the 314-1.

I have since gone back to the predator products when their Z-2 and 314-2 came out. But I was not unhappy with the I-3. I thought they were about equivalent and decided just to stick with the predator brand.

Let me also state that I am a player that can't play at all with house cues or normal cues. They have to be low deflection. I know some players say there is not much difference to THEM, but to ME it is like night and day.

Also as far as speed Im a C+ to B- player (4 to 5 ball ghost).

Also, you mentioned you didn't like the 314-2 because it was a hard hit. Do you have the original tip on it? If so, that tip is very hard. Try a Sniper tip and it will be much softer. That is the first thing to try before getting a new shaft.

When I first got the z-2 it was nothing like my z-1. I hated it. Then I changed its tip to a Sniper which is what I had on my z-1 and all was fine again.

Once you find a tip/feel you like, you have to put that same tip on any new shaft you buy to have a fair comparison of the shafts.
