I just picked one up on a trade . It is a 3/8x10 that
I will try out on my Klapp cue . Would love some input
and opinions from those who have tried them .

Thanks in advance and happy holidays to all !!!

I personally really like McDermott products and have both a G-core and an I-2 shaft for some of my cues. I have never used the I-3 though, so I can not comment on that particular product directly.

However, I can say that the I-2 reminds me a heck of a lot of the OB classic, with the similar diameter, taper, and 1/4" ferrule. The OB classic has better LD numbers and OB is also another company I love. There is something about having a McD shaft on a McD cue that I like for whatever reason.

Basically, I know this isn't the most informative thread, but I just wanted to say I like the I series shafts in general, McD products in general, and I hope you enjoy your new shaft. It all comes down to what you like and get used to, some like the highest percentage deflection numbers ...some enjoy middle of the road numbers ... some just can't get used to LD shafts at all and are used to compensating for deflection and do well at it. None of these approaches are wrong, it all comes down to what you personally like the feel of.... don't worry about the numbers!

I shoot with a McDermott I-3 on a Dale Perry butt. Balance is perfect and I really like the hit. The 11.75mm tip, with the short white ferrule;, gives me a sense of geometric precision where I strike the cue ball. I was initially concerned about going to a narrow tip but from day one I was very comfortable with the shaft. I also like the Moori soft tip. It holds it's shape very well with no mushrooming. Miscues are very rare and far between. One of the benefits of the shaft is the lifetime warranty from McDermott. No charge for replacing the tip, ceaning, and resealing the shaft. There is a $21 charge for handing and shipping. I bought my I-3 used, here on the forum, and have had no problem with McDermott honoring the warranty. Just fill out the work order and send it in with the shaft. I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy playing with the I-3.

Great shaft, but I'd like to hear what YOU think of it, since you just bought it, post back after you have played a little with it!

I'm waiting on it to arrive . It should be here Monday or Tuesday
I will post my feelings on it after I give it a test run.

Thanks for the opinions and Happy Holidays To All !!!

I got the I3 shaft in today and it does play nice and
moves the cue ball with ease but I just don't think
I could get used to the size .

If you don't like it, let me know, I may take it off your hands :)

Pm sent sir.

Happy Holidays ... Larry
