That, sir, looks like a sweet D-9 that originally retailed for $135. Except for the few scuffs and bruises of course.

The D-Series cues have superior shaft wood.... lovely cues to play.

Many really dig them. I have had mine since the 80's. Great cue. It was my break cue back then as I played with my Joss. But it is really a nice playing cue. It's the only one I have. All my other McDermotts are C, B, and even A series cues. My D will never be for sale. I had another a few years ago and regret selling it. It was perfect with original price sticker on it.

The C series was very nice but less consistent. For example the joint diameters varied. I think they really had their act together in design, construction, materials, fit and finish for the D series. In many ways I see the D series as the apex of McDermott cues.

Generally I have found nice shaft wood on the D series as you point out.

Some of the earlier cues were awesome as well, don't get me wrong. :)
