McDermott info E-H2

I bought this cue the other day and I am trying to find out the details on it. I know its an E-H2 but this one has tulipwood rings, ebony butt and looks like an inlaid 9 ball instead of the graphic style in the production run. I reached out to McDermott but no response as of now. The only info I have found is from this website but it is from 2008. I will post a screenshot of the info I found on here and the cue. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Earlier bumper, like D series, earlier model. Later models have the push in bumper. I have one. There were a few slight variations, including the joint rings and the butt cap color. Some were made with the gray butt cap, some black iirc.

If I get a minute I'll post pics of mine to compare.

You can see mine is later, with push in bumper, black butt cap, and no tulipwood rings at the joint. It actually looks like my butt cap and butt sleeve are one piece. I cannot see any division at all between them. You would think especially due to age you could detect it if it was there due to age related finish changes. So, I think mine is one piece behind the wrap, sleeved over a dowel or core of course. Also mine has a linen wrap, likely an upgrade. Remember although these were catalog cues, you could order almost whatever you wanted and they would make it.

The wood on my E-H3 is particularly nice.

I will be curious what McDermott says about your exact combination of features/design points.

Here is an E-F5 with one piece butt cap/butt sleeve, and push in bumper, but it has the tulipwood rings. I have two shafts for this.

ebony butt and looks like an inlaid 9 ball

Don't want to burst your bubble...and I could definitely be wrong...but I doubt that is ebony, at least it's not "jet black" ebony, we can see that in the pics.

You can see my E-H3 is definitely inlays. The others? I would not want to argue about it.

Maybe prototypes were inlays? Early cues? I will reserve my opinion and will be interested to hear what McDermott says.

I think that first picture is my cue.

Thank you for responding. You are right. That first pic is your cue. I took a screenshot of it the day i got my cue to compare. I accidentally posted it thinking it was a pic of mine. I will delete it to avoid confusion. My butt cap and sleeve definitely look like 2 separate pieces and i just assumed ebony by what the guy said in the pic i posted of his 2008 description. Mine also has an Irish linen wrap. Its solid black and looks like leather in the pics. Again thanks for your response and that is a very nice E-H3

There are a variety of types of ebony, and I am no expert, so I won't guess.

You can post my pics, I don't care. 👍

I am really excited to see your cue and talk about it.

Any chance you can link to that post you found on AZB? I can't find it.
