McDermott Stinger break cue tip replacement?

Hi all,

Has anyone replaced the stock phenolic tip on a McDermott Stinger j/b cue? From my understanding, the stock phenolic tip has some type of tenon that goes down into the ferrule or something similar.

Just wanting to see if anyone has encountered one of these and how they handled it. I would assume just face the ferrule off flat and glue the new leather tip on.

Let me know if anyone has any experience working on this particular cue.

Thanks!

If it is damaged McDermott has a lifetime warranty on the tip. If you are just looking to replace the tip with something else just face and install the tip of choice.

Anytime I replace a phenolic tip,
I like to leave a small layer of the original phenolic if possible.

stinger tip

the phenolic tip on a stinger is one piece w/a 5 inch long tenon back through the shaft, this is where it get:s the name stinger.most i've seen were just replaced with something like a samsara tip.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Jayme at McD finally emailed me back. He said it's ok to just face flat, like everyone says, and glue the leather tip on. This is how they actually do it on request.

I'll have to do that.

My tip is completly broken due to 3-4 misscues.

Seems like the quality of the tip is not that good.
