Hello,

I consider buying this cue, but I have a question to people who have it.

Does it have any phenolic insert or collar on the joint area ? I would be worried on solid wood to wood contact on break cue.

Is the quick release joint have any steel insert on the thread butt area or is it also wood to wood connection ?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Stinger

There is no phenolic in the joint area. It is wood to wood.
The quick release for the jump part of the cue however is threaded into a metal insert.
I would not worry about the wood to wood joint. I have used mine many, many times with no problems.

Jerico

I have an original Stinger J/B from Jerry Powers aka Jerico Cues the originator of The Stinger. It has the wood to wood main joint. Mine is the bacote model and is at least 6 years old and looks brand new. Never had any issues with it at all in any way. I do not have any experience with the McDermott models FWIW...

I also had the original stinger. I had some problems with it but it did do a great job breaking and jumping. I actually just gave it away today. The problems I had would be covered by Mcdermott so I think you could buy with confidence.

Best of luck
Dustin

Thanks for all your replies, about the joint and wood to wood contact, I'm confused, cause on the McD website was written "Pin: Stainless steel 3/8x10 with phenolic insert "

McD's version of the Stinger does have a phenolic insert at the main joint... where as the original (non-McD) versions did not.
