McDermott vs Predator

Can't make up my mind between an ikon (ikon 4) or a g-series (g706). I have played with an ikon and 314/Z2, but never a McDermott with an i2/i3. I have looked all over but can't find much on the playability of the i2/i3 vs the other low deflection shafts. How does the McDermott quality compare to predator? Just by looking at pictures online, I think the McDermott's look better especially for the price.

Also, I'd be interested in having either the i2 or 314^2 play at 12mm or 12.25mm. Will PoolDawg or any other place online do this?

I've tried all the shafts you mentioned. *For me* I thought the Predator 314-2 was best. I am fairly certain that Seyberts.com will change the diameter for you, and probably sell all those shafts. I must say my experiences with Seyberts have been excellent. Top notch customer service. Corey and Rick are awesome and very helpful. I've bought maybe 5 Predator shafts from them. Highly recommended.

Joe Nielsen of Nielsen Billiards, Springfield IL. He sells both McD and Pred . . . great guy with very competitive prices. Also has the services - well worth a phone just to see where Seybert's is at. BTW - I've played with McD for almost 25 years and owned a couple of Pred's as well. Both are very good values, made well and have good playability for a non-custom cue.

I'll double the calling of Joe Nielsen! He is awesome! I've gotten a couple of McD's from him and he's who I send almost anyone I know who is looking for a new cue to!

I've worked with both Joe Nielson and Seyberts, they are both great. However I just bought a new Schon LTD from Joe Nielsen and he was over $100 cheaper than Seyberts. I just emailed him and had him keep the jump cue etc that he usually offers with his cue and he was still $100 cheaper on the cue alone. Worth a look!

I-3 vs. Z2

It wasn't a scientific test, but shooting the same shot with both (different cues) the action generated seemed to be the same and was generated with the same effort. I think you'd be hard pressed to find much difference in play. I'd like to read observations from other players....

Ditto on the Seybert's and Nielson's.

I have no opinion on where to get them, but as for the comparison between the McD and Predator shafts...I have played with both the i-2 and 314-2 and found that the action and feedback are very similar. I can actually go between them with little or no adjustment. Which ever you choose, I think you will be happy. Have you looked into the OB shafts?
