McWorter Cues Question?

First of all, let me start by saying that I have seen and played with many cues in the last 40 years. A lot of cues that people say play great are really just average. I guess it's just based on where you are coming from and what game you are playing.

Currently, I play with a Predator LEX w/Moori medium tip... beautiful cue! I also have a Predator P2 LE by Joss West... also another great hitting cue... if you like the Predator hit. When I say "hit", I mean the feedback and the ease at which you can apply english. In other words, does the cue feel like a hot knife going through butter or does it feel like a cheap piece of plastic hitting cardboard!

In my humble opinion, the best hitting cue off all time was a cue made by Dennis Searing... obviously, look at the incredible workmanship! Next in line is my Joss West circa 1980. Unfortunately, I find it almost impossible to play with my Joss West now that I have been playing with Predator for so long.

Now that you can see my dilemna, let me get to my point: Also in my humble opinion, the most beautiful cues I have ever seen are made my Jerry McWorter. They are the DiVinci of Cue Art! They absolutlely blow me away!

The big question is: DO THEY PLAY?

Jerry Builds a Superb Cue,
Excellent players in my experience...
Similar to Jerry Franklin Southwest.

I have no idea where you live, but Jerry is always the the Allen Hopkins SBE in Philly. If you can go, go. Jerry always brings a few cues and you could play with one yourself. If you like you can buy, or you can have him make you a custom.

Yes, the SBE in 2003, that is where I originally met him and saw his workmanship. I believe he was introducing his best work called "The Lady". It has been a long time since I saw this beautiful cue, I am not really sure of the name at this time... Oh well, that's what getting old will do for you. The cue was recessed in the back of his booth and on a lighted podium. I thought it was a sculpture and dared not to get near the cue. I didn't even ask him if I could hit with it since he was guarding it like a bulldog. Near the end of the show, he offered me a special deal... something around $7K. That day, I think I wound up buying a rare Omega from Dick Abbott and a killer TAD and a Tascarella from someone else after I heard Jerry's $7K price tag. I probably could have bought the cue and refinanced my home if I wanted to, but just thought of dinging the cue made me ill. The problem with high end cues like this is that you wind up putting them in a vault and never playing with them. What a shame!

Yes, they play!!! I actually own just a plane jane cored-Cocobolo McWorter cue and it plays jams up.

The handle and the butt end is slightly bigger than the norm .. kinda old school feel to it. I can't remember if it's 58 or slightly shorter. He's leather job is SUPERB ... IMHO, same level as Ernie Gutierrez. I think if you see him at any shows, he carries some more affortable "players cues" as well some of his more artistic cues.

I like the guy .. he's fairly cool and relaxed cat and got himself a hottie as well.
