I bought one of those cue balls with all the red dots on them (measles ball). I bought it just to be the first kid on the block with one, but saw no practical reason for buying it...
When I first got it, I thought all those red dots would be distracting. But they are not.
Something interesting has happened while playing with this cue ball. That is I can see what is going on with the cue ball so far as spin, follow, draw, etc. Just like when practicing with a striped ball. But I now get this feedback all the time and while playing, not just when practicing with a striped ball. I've seen some interesting things happen after ball collisions and after the cue ball hits the rail! And I can see flaws in my stroke when the cue ball is not doing what I was attempting to do.
I hope they make these balls available for separate purchase. They would be a great training aid. (They should also make a magnetic measles ball for bar boxes.)
