Sorry, but those payouts seem absurdly low for the entry fee.
The payouts are calculated according to the players attending. For example 10 to 15 if I get 15 players the pay out will be closer to the 20 players payout if I just get 10 then the payouts will be closer to the 10 player payout. Thanks

Agreed. So, for 15 players, paying $25 each = $375, but he's only paying $150 back? What happens to the other $225...does that go into his pocket? If so, that will last about one week. Maybe the OP can clue us in on how his pay structure works.

Ok h100rr...so you get 20 players and take in $500 in entry fees, yet only pay back $200? Sorry but that doesn't work to the advantage of the players.

if 15 players enter it goes to the 20 players payout which is the 200.00. The remaining funds goto our winner take all match of 20 players at the end of each month. The winner take all tournament is made up of all of our winners for the month with no entry fee and players that have lost and participated in our tournaments. As we get more and more players the winner take all will increase monthly. Thank you all for your concern.

Sir...Generally speaking, tournaments that hold out a portion of entry fees, to pay out in a "winner's tournament" later on, do not keep out 60% or more of the entry fees. Normally it's only 10% held out, which is added to a growing pot, with each successive tournament. I think you'll find that players will not support your pay structure...but we'll see. I could be wrong. Good luck with your tournaments. It seems like you're trying to do a good thing for the MD tournament players.

I apologize, when I goto to my site: www.centerpocketlc.com, the winner take all tournament is not on the site. I will be updating ASAP to the website. The winner take all at the end of each month is a tournament of 20 players. see below how the 20 players are acquired.

TOURNAMENTS

WINNER TAKE ALL

There is a monthly winner take all tournament at the end of each month for 500. This means there is only one prize and no second or third place prizes. This tournament is only open to 20 participants.

NOTE:

As Center Pocket get more participants, the winner take all pot will increase.

20 PARTICIPANTS
• 15 SLOTS FOR THE WINNERS OF THE MONTH UP TO WEEK THREE EACH MONTH
• 3 SLOTS ARE DRAWN FROM THE REGISTARED PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPETED IN THE TOURNAMENTS THAT MONTH
• 2 SLOTS ARE FOR VIP REGISTATORS
o IF NO VIPS
♣ LAST 2 SLOTS WILL BE DRAWED FROM THE REGISTARED PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPETE IN THE TOURNAMENTS THAT MONTH

Scott thank you for your input. I am here to provide a service to the pool community. That being said I have participated in other tournaments with lesser payouts. My goal is to offer big racks, three ball, give out vouchers and the winner take all tournament all in an attempt to give back the money to the pool community. I would appreciate if you would participate in the Tournament Play at Center Pocket before you make your judgement.

But that would mean just to get my money back I'd have to win at least 3 games and if you assume that everyone is at an even skill level then I only have a 12.5% chance just to break even, 6.25% to double my money, or 3.125% to quadruple.

If I took any single evenly matched person from this tournament and played them 2 games the second being double or nothing I get the same payout but with a 25% chance. More than double the chances that I just break even in that tournament. Not to mention that even if I lose the double or nothing match I still break even meaning to break even there I only need that first 50% to succeed. So effectively, given I win the first match, I have a 50% chance to break even, this would also be true in the long run if there were no double or nothing bets but instead after each game a new game started.

Now, I'd consider something along the lines of say 10% of each entry fee going to the WTA pot, 60% going to the winner, 20% to second place, and another 10% going to third, hell if you really want to go crazy, remove 1 entry fee and use that for 4th place. If you average 16 players per tournament and you had 8 per month (one 9 and one 8-ball per week), your WTA money added would still be $300 every month but each tournament winner would take home $225. Much better payout for the odds involved. That same double or nothing match I eluded to earlier would then only give me a 6.25% chance to make the same as first place here, much closer to the tournament difficulty (this assumes the other even player will always take the double or nothing offer).

My main gripe seems to be that you're essentially making each sub-tournament winner-take-all by default because I still have to win that tournament just to enter the WTA tournament to get the actual payout since I'm not guaranteed an entry unless I win earlier rounds.

I don't care what you're attempting to do.

When 1st place for a $25 entry tournament only pays $125, I'm not playing.

Oh, the rest of the money is going to a winner take all tournament? Yeah, that's gonna go over real well. How many winner take all tournaments do you see in pool? Not many (if any), and there's a good reason behind it.

Have fun watching a 4 or more way split.

He'll have everybody sign a contract at the players meeting 😉

I do wish you well. I think you will need to rework your payouts if this is going to work.

Thanks for your input. I see your numbers however what you have not done is actually participate. During the month there will be chances for all who lose to win there money back and more. For example, all losers we will offer up a tournament of just the participants who lost and who lose again from that tournament. You will receive vouchers to participate in other tournaments. The winner take all will be a free tournament of the best of the best competing.

I appreciate the breakdown of my tournaments and your input. This system does not work for you however this system may work for other players. The APA, TAP and other pool leagues have their own systems. We all choose to participate in the leagues that work best for us. Thanks

Thank for your input. We are not oppose to reworking any numbers. I am offering a service to pool community. Please by all means send me any input you may have or complaints about our tournaments. Come out and participate!!!!!!

Have you ever been to a pool hall before you opened your own?

Not trying to be rude. I'm all for more pool halls being opened in this country, and getting more people involved. But you are way over complicating things. Here's how easy it is to run a weekly tournament.

1. Players pay pre determined entry fee.

2. 10% can go to a Champions Tournament that can be held every 3-6 months.

3. Most places I play, the bar will add a little money to each tournament. Not sure if it's required.

4. Pay out 25% of the field.

5. DO NOT MAKE THE CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT WINNER TAKE ALL.

If I were in the area I would come and check it out. I'm certainly not trying to be a detractor. Any new rooms are surely welcome. I do wish you the best of luck and prosperity for years to come. It certainly is easy to bandy about criticism from behind a keyboard, certainly easier than opening a pool room and trying to make it succeed.
