I really enjoyed the Cup this year...the crowd made feel like
I was at the Rack when the action was popping.

When Dennis Hatch made a jump combo on the 2/3 with position..
it reminded me of a time in the mid 90's when he was playing 9-ball
at Bogart's in Detroit.
Cornbread Red hooked him early in the match...Dennis got his jump
cue,made the ball and ran out.
Red was disgusted..didn't think jump cues should exist.

Next game..Dennis breaks dry..Red can see the 1-ball but doesn't
have a shot.
He shot the 1 down table and locked whitey tight on the 7-ball.
Dennis is looking for an escape..Red hands Dennis his short cue
and says "JUMP THIS"...everbody laughed,including Dennis.

Red didn't go too far in that tournament...his 9-ball days were past.

But he won the 1-pocket division.
Cliff Joyner and Efren Reyes were in the field..
..but Red wasn't paying attention..

I miss Red a lot

The Mosconi Cup was an outstanding event and I would just like to pass on my thanks to everyone who made it such a spectacle. All the players, managers and others involved with both teams were outstanding. They were never too busy to sign autographs for anyone and always willing to stop and chat with us. Even in the Hotel before and after the matches they would all stop and talk and that was much appreciated. The Matchroom, Sky Sports and York Hall people were also great.

The European Fans are in a League of their own when it comes to making themselves heard supporting their team. We spent time outside the hall with a lot of them just chatting about Pool and other stuff and eveyone single one of them without exception were awesome. When our Team was picking up their Silver Medals it was a nice touch that the European Fans started chanting USA, USA. It was a pretty good feeling for an ex Brit I can tell you........................Thanks To All Of You For That.

Also a big Thank You to Melanie Archer for all the nice little touches with the flags and banners for all the US Fans. Melanie is one of the nicest, sweetest people I know and is simply an awesome Human Being and for that alone Melanie, Brenda and I are proud to know you, we Love You. There were others helping out with this too and to all of those goes a big thanks too, as to all the other US Fans, small in number maybe but big in heart.

A special mention to all the guys on Team USA they were, in our eyes, probably the best ever. They played as a Team, won as a Team and (unfortunately) lost as a Team. Every single one of them deseverves all our ongoing support, if this Team gets to play together again in Veags I have little doubt they will win it.

I hear the latest rumour is that Matchroom are taking the Mosconi back to the York Hall in 2012. For those of you that have never been to it there, start saving it's a truly unique and memorable experience.
 
Being there was a truly unique experience. I must say I have a great respect for the UK fans after going there and seeing how they support their team, even though they annoyed me at times ;-) As was said above, I was pleasantly shocked at the end of the event when the UK fans started cheering USA. That was pretty cool actually. Here I thought they hated us, now at least I know they hate us but respect us :-)
