Mens open singles

I heard a rumor out in Vegas that the men that finished 1st and 2nd in open singles were disqualified because they were considered pro status in their country and were suppose to be playing with the grand masters. Anybody else hear this, and if its true? And if so what happens to all that money.

The answer is yes. Can't go into all the details yet as I have a vested interest (5/6th). Keep an eye out for a statement from Mark Griffin and the BCAPL regarding the situation.

Didn't play either one. Did watch a couple of their matches and one of their Advanced teams. An Open player in Taiwon is not the same as here. Think of a Glen Atwell, Jason Kirkwood or Max Eberle level player instead. Perhaps higher? The BCAPL did the correct thing.

The results of the Mixed Open 8 Ball event as shown on the CSI website have been revised to show the two Tiawanese players deleted. As expected, no one has been moved up. A nightmare for players finishing 9 - 12 and 49 - 64 was avoided. No statement from Mr. Griffin yet. One is expected soon. No listing of any revised payouts (if any) was posted.

I'm sad for the two players. My understanding is the league operator mis-stated their ability. They played through the event and soundly beat my fellow competitiors. As was said while still in Vegas, the BCAPL / CSI had to do something. Their true ability was also shown as they soundly won the Advanced Mixed Team event even after being moved up from the Open. I'm happy in their team being moved as the Open team I played on finished second after defeating the eventual winners for the hot seat. Doubt if either team would have beaten the Tiawanese. They were just awesome! All in all, a very sad day for everyone involved.
