message needs to be at least 10 letters

Got this message a couple days ago, trying to make a post.

I hit the 'quote' button, displaying the original post, and added commentary in excess of 10 letters.

System wouldn't recognize the additional entries (I guess), and wouldn't allow the post.

Anyone else have this happen recently?

(probably just me...I have this effect on photocopiers, computers,cell phones and anything electronic...it's a gift)

See all the 'a's within the quote....you get told that message is too short.
Click after the quote for your post....I've done it a few times.
 
yep, you have to type at least 10 letters after a quote. the emoticon codes do count as characters, so you could use ":sarcastic" or ":rolleyes" plus a short word.

Split your quote like this, and you can add text all you want.

It's always that way. The system just looks for the tags. You can put anything in the quote.
 
Funny thing is if you type it out like this:

Ten letters


Then it's 10 letters.
 
To clarify, I responded to an existing post. On that post, I hit the 'quote' button, that put the text of his post in my response draft.

So his post is within 'quotes'.

My additional comments were not in quotes. My response was well in excess of 10 letters....still got kicked out.

This is my best Sunday afternoon Jack Daniels recollection on the matter.

With hindsight, probably kept me from posting something that I would later take down, after reading in the light of day.:eek:
