I got to meet earl last night in albany. Also met allison fisher for the second time and took a lesson with her. She was, of course, extremely nice. Earl is misunderstood and misrepresented by a lot of people. He is very, very nice, completely approachable, and funny as hell! He let me check out his cue and all the doodads on it, was asking about my french fries, and definitely "picked" me in the crowd to frequently walk over to and complain about the table, joke around etc. It was a pleasure to chat with him, and get beat by him twice:cool:. He has a very interesting style/stroke when you see him up close. He doesnt grip the cue at all, he cups it. His thumb and pointer finger appear to not even form a loop around the cue. He also twists his wrist upon delivery. It can be seen in some of the videos, as he was directly in front of me. I brought an old, retired cue with me and had allison and earl sign it so I can hang it on the wall.

the videos are getting copyrights on them due to background music i assume. Any advice on how to fix that? i just edited and said "i do not own any music heard in this video". Im afraid to upload anymore and get my channel blocked. edit: looks like it just means you cannot monetize and earn money off the video? If so, no biggie. I just dont want my account to get locked. I am uploading in good faith and will make clear that i own nothing.

I agree that Earl is a fun and interesting fella when I met him also .
As for his stroke it's like when I asked a friend of mine about Cowboy Jimmy Moore's stroke , he replied to not even think about doing that , because it will ruin you're game !
His slip stroke was amazing I've never seen anything like it before or since then .

"you guys probably thought i did something wrong there. Nope! The table just cant handle my strength"
Earl did tell me his famous line earlier.......that any misses he makes are not his fault. Its the table.

Good for him when he was here in Montana he played with Mike Gulyassy pool cues .
But all good things can come to a end .
I've got a cue with a carbon fiber shaft one minute I like it the next well not so much May be I'm to used to a all wood cue .

Earl is becoming the Minnesota Fats of the 21st Century

Someone who knows how to work a crowd, goof around, and still play pretty sporty

I have been around Earl 50 times or more, gotten autographs ,pictures, talked about shots. I had the same experiences as you. He was always great. Allison is also awesome.
I always remembered that he was one of the stars of the show, not me, and respected his space.
I have also watched a lot of people do the same, then you have Freddy, Freddy thinks because he paid for a ticket, Earl is his new best friend, and when it doesn't go that way, he gets pissy. Then he decides to get even with old show off Earl, and shouts out something while he is down on a critical ball, so he can watch Earl go off.
If they had tossed the first guy out on his head, who yelled some stupid comment from the crowd while they were playing 99% of Earls bad press would be gone.

i talked with earl about that as well. I told him I respect his game a bit more than the other pros because he has to play under more pressure than the other pros, because he has to deal with the crowds always trying to piss him off and get a reaction out of him. Someone next to me was even joking about hitting him with a camera flash while he was down on a shot. If, in one of my videos, you hear laughing, and then someone saying "no, dont do that!", that was what it was about.
