If outlawing smoking would rid the nation of cancer, I'd be all for it. I'm afraid that's not what would happen. Last summer, I was at a car show...totally outdoors. Yes, I smoke 1-2 cigars a week. One of the anti smoking zealots actually followed me around as I looked at the cars...coughing and complaining. The wind was mostly at my back...she was following me, coughing her head off. No way she was sniffing any smoke. She just hated seeing anybody enjoying a stogie.
I got fed up...turned around, blew some in her face, told her she should get her cough checked out, and that she'd better quit following me around, or I'd file a "stalking" complaint!
Okay, Russ...I see your point. FWIW, smoking is banned in any non alcohol
serving establishment in Oregon. Smoking only allowed in bars. That includes my favorite pool hall. No smoking allowed. I comply.
But this broad was CRAZY! Outdoors, a light breeze blowing, you're going to follow a smoker around and complain? Don't come into my yard when I'm mowing the lawn...you might smell the smoke of a fine Hondouran stogie. My wife doesn't like 'em in the house. I respect her wish.
The USA used to be a nation that protected individual liberty. Not so much so these days...
But "these people" who start their cough-cough routine whenever they see (not smell) a cigarette or a stogie? They don't get my respect...
"Smoking more than one cigar at a time is excessive smoking." -Mark Twain (he was a pool fan.)
